Bianca, those are lucky chickens!

Chicken news. Hmmm. Not much has been going on here. The chickens all took to the woods while it's been hot. My youngsters who seem to be lacking in the smarts department, wouldn't leave the coop area to go out in the run, which had a breeze and was shaded. They just stood around panting in the hot coop. Then tonight as it started to cool off they all came out.

My DH yelled for me to look out the window. I look out to see Peep nested up on a baseball in the yard. My son had been practicing his pitching and left them all over. I guess poor Peep thought it was a really big egg. She didn't stay there too long, but afterward I was wishing I had thought to take a picture.

My guineas roam all over the place and make a nest. We hunt it up, take the eggs and put in wooden ones so they will come back. Yesterday we located a new nest with 4 eggs in it. So I took the eggs in and put four wooden ones out. Tonight I went to get the new eggs. There were three eggs and three wooden eggs. I ask my son if he had messed with it but he hadn't, so something must have stole an egg last night. Poor critter, ok it deserved it I guess.

We have a pesky tree frog some where in the garage. Because it isn't completely done, there are lots of space around where the siding from the house had to be pulled off and where the roof connects. Anyway we spent half an hour trying to find the noisy little guy. Every time we would get close he would shut up. Hopefully he is smart enough to find his way back out.

Well, i have been working this past week on my hen's bumblefoot, again. I think i may have finally been able to draw out the rest of the infection, please keep us in your thoughts....

I have taken as much out of her pad as i am able, so the only other course of action would be antibiotics.

Thunder and rain here, i am going to log off for the night.

Hot...that's all I'm gonna say! DS had a nice birthday. We went to lunch at the restaurant of his choice and did the cake & ice cream thing early this evening. He didn't get what he asked for ( a lap top or dirt bike) be he did like what he eneded up with....2 cases of skeet, a set of head phones and 10 boxes of ammo. Something to entice them to get outside...lol.....With supervision!! My kids are very active & love being outside but they both hate the heat! My chicken were panting on and off all day and I kept giving them ice cubes in a dish. The cubes start to melt a little and they all peck at it.

Fire.....

well today is my husbands last day off because he starts his new job this monday! :)

Congrats...hope all goes well for him.

Little Ducky

I wanna give him a Big Kiss!! lol

Wow. There is something uglier than the uggos.

I didn't look for any pics that I might have but my pop door is very similar and it opens from the inside.

That would of been a cute picture!

Wow. Very slow day here today. I guess that hot weather was a good excuse to either play in water, or vegetate. LOL.

5 of my chuckles are sleeping in the big coop now... Well, 2 are in the big coop, up on the top roost in the corner where I can not snatch them off and put them in the summer coop. 3 are on the summer roosts, and were the only birds not still panting at close up time. Smart girls.

Skeeter had her babies back in the enclosure, but she can't get them back in the coop. I put her nest box down earlier today, so It was very easy to be able to get them back in the coop. She took them in the nest box, I just picked it up and set it in. SWEET! I just can't believe she had them outside already. They are only 3 days old.

Well, gonna hit the sack. I am bushed, and my arms still feel like I over worked them. The bruises haven't gotten worse. I do have a few on my legs, but they are little like the ones on my arms. I am going to call my DR in the morning. Its just weird as I can't think of a reason for it. I didn't do anything out of the norm.

Maybe you're low on iron?? JMT

Oh... and before I forget... I laughed so hard, I cried.

Aiden has this old costume fireman hat. He tells me to put it on my head, so I do, and he says, "This won't hurt a bit." He then takes a swing at me with a plastic kids horseshoe stake and clobbers me upside the head. AND YES IT DID HURT! Its a kids hat! SO, I get knocked upside the head, the bone over my eye takes the brunt of it, and he says, "See, I told you it don't hurt!" BUT IT DID! Yet it was so dang funny that I was laughing so hard I was in tears. Good thing he is 3.
