Stacykins,
Do you have any pictures of your Araucanas that you can post. I would love to see them? did you hatch them from eggs or buy chicks. Can I ask where you got them from?

I'll repost a few pictures, but most are scattered on the Araucana Breed Thread. My adults are a mix of birds from hatching eggs from Lanae of Cash's Blue Eggs, Chicken Scratch Poultry, Gary Ramey, and someone else whose name escapes me, but had true Araucana stock. The eggs I am currently hatching are from my own birds, I am finally getting some fertility out of them.

Color isn't standard yet at all. I hope to work to having a blue/black/splash flock eventually, but right now I have a mishmash of colors. The eggs are lovely blue, at least. My rooster and four girls are all tufted and rumpless. Alas, three of the four are currently broody, so egg production all but halted, oye. So all I have are the ones in the incubator, which are due on the 5th of June.

Bad lighting, but you can at least have an idea about the color

One western red cedar planted so far. It looks like it will take a beer per tree for time to plant. My boss is a real task master but at least he provides the beer.

One of the Uggos has been on the nest box for over 2 hours. How long does to really take to lay that egg?

Stacy - They're only tufted on one side?

The black girl with the big tuft has only one. Ambrose the rooster, the duckwing, the cuckoo, and the brown gal are double tufted, one on each side. Sadly tufts are an irresistible target for other birds, and they're usually not as magnificent as when they first grow in.

That is a beautiful moth!!!
My son and I found a caterpillar last week and put it in a tank... It is now in cocoon mode!!! I hope he gets to see it emerge!!
Downside... I think it might be a silkworm thing that encase the branch with their nest. Last year I let one live and on the branch we left it on... it left me a huge silk nest

HH that moth is phenomenal! WOW! And great pic!

Juise your arbor is fantastic. I got some old fencewood and was going to make one back where the grapevines are (so they don't climb the pine) it won't be as pretty as yours but the plans will help since I had no idea how to go about it!

I let my chicks out (and the enhanced trio I got from Opa) for the first time all day yesterday. They were pretty pleased about it. Today they're driving me nuts. I hear lots of noises like something's after them and I go back there and they're just sitting there clucking and making noise. Do chickens intentionally mess with your head? Jerks. All actually seem to enjoy the wood fringe placement, they doze in the ferns or wander out and defoliate and snap bugs out of the air. I just can't understand the occasional, seemingly disturbed loudness. Do you think they would understand if I sat down with them all and read them The Boy Who Cried Wolf? I would find a picture heavy version since I'm not sure they can read or comprehend human.

I guess mine would be jerks today then too. Same crap. I ended up going out and looking all around, and thought, well there must be nothing wrong, just feeling the quiet to keenly for their liking... SO, made a bunch of noise just to get attention. Jerks. HAHA. Silly chickens... NOT to be confused with SillyChicken.
