Nigellas - To be fair, there is a good chance she would have to look up what "tenebrism" is, and I bet she has no idea how to get her chiaroscuro on, or how much she ought to hate gouache! Wait, that last one may just be me.

Anyway, hey! I was an art student, and I take offense!

So, you're saying I should think gouache is gauche?

(and I'd totally have to look all of those up. I think at one point I knew what chiaroscuro was but that knowledge has long since been replaced by something really crucial to life - like the Animaniacs theme song lyrics

Ha! My concentration was watercolor - I always felt like gouache was inferior, lol. And sorry, I often forget my self-deprecation could accidentally include others. ;)

Remember this guy? He's half faverolle, half black EE... Aster baby...

Totally loved the color changes that happened with him. He is skittish and does not like to come around people at all. Him and his loner brood mates... Well I finally caught a pic of him today... I had to zoom in a lot with the phone, and this was as close as I could get in the trees with out him heading for the thicket.

It has been quite some time since I had "art history", but aren't these terms related to shading?

Yes, they are both kind of the same thing - very dramatic lighting. Strong light/dark contrast. :)
