I don't expect you to impart the learning of entire courses. I just wanted to be sure I knew what a taxonomy class would mean. I have plenty of books on plants. I just have to focus on my books about people these days. ;)
If I were a better educator, I would teach you everything that I know.
The trouble is that some of the things that I know don't always come out the way I would like them to.

In our taxonomy classes, we were expected to know the genus, species, family and common name of any plant that we collected. We also had to collect 100 different species each term. I'm lucky if I can remember 10 of them.

You know, I totally can.

They were. I had several classes on native plant taxonomy. Trees, shrubs, aquatics and native wildflowers. i opted out of the herps and entomology classes. Not that I don't like those subjects. I'm just more of a vegetative kind of person.

Maybe you could recommend / derecommend some of the plants I listed for Mom? I don't know much...

I think most of today will be spent indoors. However it still is a good day. I can spend it reading without feeling guilty about not working on the many things that need to be done outdoors.

Oh I am so jealous. I have always wanted a pet skunk but the cost and shipping involved was big and complicated. You don't have to descent a skunk - just don't scare it!

I think so here also. I was supposed to take my son to the fish hatchery today. He did enough jobs this week to earn a trip wherever he wanted. My blind chicken is not acting blind the last two days. I'm not sure if she has learned her area and is comfortable now or if that wasn't really her problem. Will be checking that out more today.

My coffee maker broke! I got out the camping one and it is not cooperating either! I may have to settle for tea.

TEA! What a wonderful idea, thank you! It's only 47.8 outside and 66 in the house and I am chilled. The flannel lined pjs, cotton robe, shall and fuzzy socks just aren't doing it for me today. And I don't want to run the furnace SO tea is just the ticket! Pouring like the dickens out there, too. Pups ate breakfast and went back to bed. I think they birds can stay cooped up for a while longer.

Looks like there is more coming from the thumb after this moves through. Glad it's moving straight north and not SE to NE!

100? I'd be doomed. Memorization is not my strong suit.

Oh! My white silkie seems to be doing well on garlic mash and grit. Her crop wasn't full of fluid this morning.

Yay! That's fantastic!

Eeyore and I gave you all an early warning... zombie possums.

Just like in the movies, no one ever listens until it's too late.

Like I need another critter to PO the neighbors.

I wonder if I can train it to aim...

Teeville - Congratulations to your son.

In a last ditch effort before I look for someone in the area who processes chickens, I thought I would post these two 5 1/2 month old cockerels for free to anyone on BYC. One is pure Barred Rock and the other is Barred Rock x French Black Copper Marans. The cross is a very handsome boy with dark BR patterns as well as the FBCM black/beetle green and rust hackle and saddle feathers and feathered legs. He is getting darker as he gets older. Both very nice boys so far. If anyone is interested, please PM me. I will travel to place them.

About the ducks.... There is definite quacking happening now from both. But no, the curl I am talking about is not the tail, which I know about already, but along the back. I noticed it yesterday while I was holding them captive... Hehe. I will take pictures.
