She is quite springy today, jumping, bouncing in the shed, and Bella keeps making a very low moo at her. I was up at 4 am for I had to be at work, I was so tired that I fell asleep in the nice and clean shed, using Bella as a nice big and warm pillow.

That is why I am doing this, for the comfort of Bella. I am letting Maybelle nurse first, then I milk what is left over. I will not be separating Maybelle from Bella until Sunday night, so Bella will have a full udder for our use, then when I am done milking, I will let Maybelle back, so she can nurse for the rest of the day, then repeat until Bella weans her at around 6 months old. Then I will be milking her twice a day.
Thanks.

Bella is Angus/Guernsey. Maybelle's father is an pure Angus.

I thought it sounded like you pulled her off.... sorry

you're not all that old n cranky opa, I don't like the dummying down of the educations systems and the play nicey nice in childrens sports. Kids need to learn you don't always win or lose in life. It's all in what you put into it...no winners or losers, whats the point in pushing yourself?

As far as education.. I don't think of myself as stupid...but I never did well in school. Why, partly me, I have issues with transposing numbers and my attention span and memory is about [ ] this long! But it's partly because of the teachers. I don't think it's entirely fair to say its all the stupid kids faults cause I believe they can learn if there are higher expectations... you don't lower the expectation to increase learning or intelligence.. it's not going to happen. The quality, skills and dedication of the teacher will make all the difference in how well a kid performs.

No, I am sorry that I was not clear enough. I know that my grammar is bad, (It was not my favorite subject, and I was homeschool by my mom who was a 5th grade English teacher!)

I think with teachers today, some of them are in it for the easy money... HA! They are not paid enough to deal with kids. Kids are not only dumbed down, a lot of children are drugged up. I did not excel at school at all. I took AP classes and finished a lot of the textbooks with in the first few weeks. I was then BORED to tears the rest of the school year in my senior year. So badly so that I only graduated with a 1.82 GPA. How did I even do that? Well, I never did any of my assignment, and passed all my tests with 100% scores. I argued a lot with my history teacher, so much so that he finally told me to shut up, do my homework, and then I could argue with him in class. I did my homework, had to be moved to a more appreciative class, because my "arguing" was disruptive to other students. Actually had another student ask me, well tell me, to shut up so other students could learn what I already knew. I ended up taking a bunch of odd ball classes in my final semester in HS just to not be bored, and that didn't even really work. So, what kept me a float was the ability to pass all tests and exams with perfect grades. You'd never know it now though. I can be a total idiot.

I have a tendency to pick a subject, learn it until it bores me, or until it leads me to some new subject. I actually considered being a teacher for a very, very short while. BP just is not... Well I'd completely hate to have a bi-polar teacher. I considered vet school briefly, also nursing. I got a job working for M.O.C.A. when I was 19, and decided after a few months that "THAT" was not for me either. I even considered going to Kendal. My dad however put a ka-bosh on that. Didn't think there would be enough "work" for the type of art I was into. Now, here I am, a single mom, who delivers papers, and is learning the arts of self sufficiency. Yup. Public education has led me here, and I am happy with it. I might not have a college education, but I bet there are a lot of college kids and graduates who know a whole lot more useless information than I do. Key word, "useless".

It would be a shame if someone who excelled in math (I guess you would say maths?) or science was denied entrance into college for poor English skills. That said, I think writing, reading and communication in general are taking a hit in this modern world.

Course when you learned it, you learned that English required superfluous Us... you probably add extra Es to things too, like Ye Olde Chickene Shoppe.

(kidding!)
The "Ye" is actually from the old English , it had extra letters that were dropped, the YE was actually "thorn", or (Þ, þ), pronounced th as in thick. But it was dropped early on and the Y was substituted, as was the . . . .

oh, never mind. The English language is so very complicated sometimes.

And while I understand that there are many people who have learning disabilities that should still be considered for college, I have spoke to many college "graduates", that I wouldn't have thought had graduated from high school!

I should be doing indoor chores like laundry and bathroom cleaning. Instead I'm playing stupid computer games.

What kind of stupid computer games?

I love reading so I learned all my grammar from that, I guess.
Best way to learn.

I just got a free lunch and a piece of cake, and I get to eat it too!

While it seems strange, there is a reason for it. ... so it's not really fair to squash all potential based on one set of skills.

CLAMPS. This one is a C clamp, There are several other types. Barn/yard sales sometimes have them cheap. Google them and good clamping. They are also much stronger than nearly any human helper.

Stronger than my 4 year old daughter??

Thanks, Bob, I love C clamps, but I don't have any that are very big. Some larger ones certainly would have helped. I will have to try scavenging some of these yard sales going on for them. Too bad they can't help me carry it, too!

As far as education.. I don't think of myself as stupid...but I never did well in school.

I did terrible in school. I hated every minute of it, and I never did any of the homework. Unless it was something I actually wanted to do, especially biology / art / etc. assignments. The art assignments were some of the only homework I felt like there was much point of doing, practicing made sense, as opposed to solving for X 50 times. Like Nova, I passed by acing the tests.

I won't say much about public education, but there is a reason I am homeschooling my children. I really enjoyed this talk if you have the time.

I'm both Bi-polar AND Lysdexic (see, what more proof do you need
wink.png
) I was diagnosed Dyslexic as a child when it was considered a mental defect. But, my parents never gave up on me, and I had extra tutoring even before nursery school.

Seriously though, the bi-polar has had a far bigger impact on my education than the dyslexia.

I guess I feel a lot like Opa. And Olive. This 'No child left behind" just doesn't work because everyone has different capabilities, and some people simply don't have the IQ to get past high school even. This is simply a matter of fact, and being pc is not going to change anything. What we need to do, is encourage our young ones to focus on what they can do WELL, practice it, and then go on to be the best they can be in that endeavor.

Not everyone can be a rocket scientist or a surgeon, some of us are better suited to be janitors or trash collectors - nothing wrong with that, just be the best janitor or trash collector. We all have a place (or we all COULD have a place).

I once worked as an animator and my boss wanted me to work with a girl teaching her to do " 3D animations". Sadly, she didn't have the capability, but my boss insisted that since she was so determined, that she actually "could" do it. Well, after trying for a month on one scene, she finally gave up. It cost us quite a bit in lost time and money, not to mention all the O.T. I had to put in to correct all her mistakes.

It would be really wonderful if we all could do the things we want to do, or even if there was a way to know what we would be best at doing.

Sometimes it "IS" the fault of a bad teacher, but sometimes it really is a matter of the child not being up to "that particular task". And in that case, that is the fault of the teacher, not being able to spot it, or having to be P.C. and not telling the parents about it so that the child can focus instead on what he/she really is good at.

Ok, sorry for the rant . . .I want to fix the world . . .

It looks like Randy's orphanarium is in full operation.

Just fed the new kit and put him to sleep. I now have 2-3 hours before the next one.
