So if this is the case once confirmed..... then I need to treat all the adults, correct? From what I've read so far they can get it from wild birds. I faithfully clean and sanitize the coop regularly plus move the pen to various spots in the field several times throughout the year.

Hypothetically....Lets just say, If this isn't the case....What else could you narrow it down to?

Mwuhahahahaha! I got 2 ringtailed bandits last night. Gonna set the trail cam out again tonight and see how many more we are dealing with.

So, my 6 week old silkie chick started crowing this week. My coop is temporarily divided in half to keep the big bossy hens from beating up my silkies. I opened the coop to find Curly, my 14 week old FBCM roo and Blue, my 6 week old silkie crowing at each other. Too cute. Now I just have to wait and see which of my other silkies start laying eggs. Then I can decide who stays, and who goes.

My wheaten/ blue wheaten ams are hatching. 4 chicks so far..... There are 9 total in the bator. 6 orps, and 4 ams due next week.:)

Mom2, I think you miss understood . Sorry I shouldn't say it that way, The 20 teachers he had were his class mates, when he was in the infant special ed program he talked very little but better then most of the other kids, We put him in a regular pre-school he started talking so even other people could understand what he was saying, The best teachers are some times peers

Well guys, i can finally show you some of my chickies. This is what i got:

real mom and dad:

Foster broody, and yellow chipmunk, momma's girl. One of the 3 brown chipmunkers, being born then fluffed:

The one that didn't make it :( He looked and acted like his momma, a special soul (the one with the bumblefoot infection) Has anyone seen this coloration before? I am wondering if i hatch more if it will be likely to happen again, though i wonder at the odds of having both her shape and this color again in one chick, given that they are EE's. White, blue, mahogany, tan, black, yellow.

Ah... chicks!

Well, the chicks just walk through the wire on the run and ditch mom, who then freaks out because she can not walk through also. HA.

Got the ducks the kiddie pool set up. First time for them. I set them in it, an they liked it, but freaked out because I was there and got out and ran around like I was in their to kill them. NA little duckies... thats not for a few weeks yet!

Hello Everyone! I haven't been on because I have been super busy and out of town several times. 786 posts behind and it'll stay that way. Hopes all is well and going smooth for everybody, congrats to anyone where it is needed & hugs to those who need them.

Important Question: What is the best & most effective medication to treat worms? Something that has a broad spectrum range coverage? The reason why I'm asking is because I think I might have an issue. Not really sure this is the case and getting information overload reading too much. I found blood (bright & fresh) in the shavings under the roost twice this week. I look at the shavings & droppings didn't see anything. I first noticed it on Wed morning when I was leaving for 3 days
sad.png
. I asked DH to observe them while I was gone.....he didn't notice anything out of the ordinary
hmm.png
. This morning I go out to feed and I noticed it again. Basically in the same spot as the previous time I noticed it and just as fresh. I have an idea of which hen has been roosting there the 2 times I've noticed but can't be 100% positive. DH also said that the one I'm suspecting the bloody droppings are from was also on that roost while I was gone . They all are a year old, never been wormed, had a fecal test last fall (negative), eating, drinking, free ranging and all. Acting normal & Nothing odd. So, what could it be and what should I do? Would greatly appreciate some advice here before I worry myself to death.
Iver-on,(ivermecton) is a good broad spectrum wormer Dr. in Lansing said it works on every thing, not sure I agree but works for most. blood is usually seen with cocci Corid 9.6% is good for that, both can be put in waterers,,,,,,could do a stool sample and see, cocci I think has to be at a certain stage to read???could be a cut or pecked comb they bleed freely and heal fast. could be some one next to her is pecking
Oh, I wish I could help with that one... Sorry...

Ok The kids came and we went over and go the run. It turns out it is 6x10 and 5 high. SO, will have to rethink the roofing plan. I thought it was 6 high also, which would have made things very simple. NOW, I actually have to measure stuff. I hate to measure. LOL. Anyway, here it is all put together. I didn't put it square as you can see. That would have required re-arranging coops. Yeah, not happening. That sucker is TOO HEAVY! Um. We tried too. HEHE.
Yup... that's me, whining on the inside! LOL. I need to get apron work done on it too, so until it is predator proof, the chicken in the one coop facing out, will have to continue to be closed up at night. Now... what can I put in there to make it a more happening place... Hmmmm... LOL. Cant wait to build center poles for the roof either. WOOHOO that will be funsies.

And here is a pic of my neice and her friends. Talk about great drawing skills...
My niece is the one on the right.
who drew the pic? very nice...like your new run too, should be fun topping it off,

Good mornin' all. Got the coffee on and sitting here thinking about how nice is was under that down comforter. Some days it seems a little hard to get going. If I didn't like to eat on a regular basis I think I'd quit working. Do any of you feed your chickens cabbage? I been hanging a head of cabbage in the coop once a week. It sure is amazing how fast they can make that disappear.
Still with his morning coffee...

Good Morning...I was sitting here thinking how I should have married rich, so I wouldnt have to get up for work-drinking my coffee, also.

I give my chickens cabbage. I tried hanging it, but I guess I am not smart enough. No matter how I hang it, they manage to knock it right off. So I just toss a head in there now and then. They love it.

I got my girls a couple dozen crickets at the pet store yesterday. They gobbled them right up. I never even saw one once I dumped the bag out.

Everyone have a great day- and perhaps if we all think it hard enough, it will warm up soon.
Mom2 actually had hens! Amazing!
