LMC.. I need a bigger coop already...Should have listened... I don't want to take care of more than 6 and that is what we have. If I find a roo maybe I could make some room. But, for now, I am gooooood on chickens.

My son just emptied half a bottle of air freshener on the floor... just sprayed the rug in the bathroom and the tile.

Your rug should smell good for a long time!

I know, I'm such an enabler! I think I have hubby convinced to extend my pen!!! Yahoooo!

Good Morning MI peeps!

Thank you for the uggos Mom2, they're very sweet! I love em!

Thank you Nigellas for helping with the transport!!!
mom2-Do you know if any of them are hens? I don't know how to tell the diff with silkies at all! And... is the brown one part polish? The black silkie is beautiful and doesn't seem to mind being handled.

I had them at work for a couple hours and put the cage by my car on the grass (minus the tray), they loved that! Luckily the rain held off till I was packing them up to leave. I put them in the big brooder box for now to allow them to adjust and de-stress a little.

I hadn't told DH about the new arrivals till this morning...

he took it well. I assured him that I'll be taking the bantams and some of my silkies to CS next weekend to make room. He said "and if you can't" (re-home), I told him I'll put an add in craigslist! So, you guys gotta help me out at CS!! (unfortunately, I won't be able to catch 2 of the bantams, yes, I already decided that that will be impossible, the two that won't run away from me. Yeah, those two, I just cant seem to catch!

Raz, hopefully your words will make a difference with the council. Now you need to get the word out to the public and gain some support, and pressure the council to do what you want! Hopefully, crabby won't get wind of it though!

Skatter had decided that she is going to ditch her babies... Which is ok, they are old enough.. THEY however aren't having it. LOL. This one here, when she is standing up, she stands as tall as Skatter. Eventually all four were up on the roost with her, and she was trying not to fall off while they were trying to re-assure themselves that they were still mama's babies. LOL The picture was to dark, but she had one each under each wing, standing up, and they are both taller than her. HAHA. She has also decided that the summer roost is more to her liking than the coop roost. HAHA, now 3 pullets have been displaced because she's vicious still. LOL, I guess they can go in the big coop or back to the little coop. Tomorrow I will go to lowes and pick up another 2x4x8 and put it in so their all happy. LOL
don't ya love a good mamma??
Yes, they say she's alive and relatively well, all things considered. She suffered a punctured lung and some other various injuries -- though apparently nothing life threatening. She has checked herself out of the hospital and is on the way back to the crash site / base camp to join the search teams. I'm thinking she's going to be one sore woman when all this adrenaline wears off ... and that on top of the emotional shock she's going through.
sad event hope they find the missing dog and trainer is OK
NOTE: tried to read all the posts that I have miss over four days ago and gave up.

Hi Everyone and any newbie that has come along, been so busy with my chicks getting them outside and comfy. The coop seems so big for them right now. I am bring some of my chicks with me to Chickenstock I just have one problem which ones to get rid of, I want to keep them all but I don't have the room. They will be six weeks old and I have no idea what most of them are I am just going to bring them and hopefully someone will know. I have several breeds several of each, they are a pullet rainbow group of chicks hatchery choice.

PS I think I need to change my name to "The Chicken Wrangler" after catching them in the 4 X 4 foot brooder and then letting them loose in the new run just to catch them all over again to put them in the coop. Guess what chicks won't just go in the coop on their own on the first day, hahaha. I caught all 28 of them though. That must have been a funny sight, I needed a cold shower after that.
if you have standards some one posted that the wing and tail feathers develop faster on hens. I tried that at TSC got 7 for my granddaughters and all were hens

Quite the storm that rolled through here last night but now everything is bright and fresh. Should be a good morning to get a little yard work done and take care of the few weeds that are attempting to rear their ugly heads.

I've one flower bed that needs some work and I had really been dreading working on it. At first glance it appeared that poison ivy had taken over on corner. I was going to tackle it once a little cooler weather had returned. Poor Hope was pulling weeds for a friend and didn't realize that a lot of it was poison ivy. As a result she is suffering the effects. I was going to avoid that by wearing surgical gloves under some cotton gloves that I would throw away. When I went out to plan my assault I discovered clusters of five leaves not three. Further checking reveals it to be Virginia creeper. A pain to get rid of but at least I won't be itching and scratching afterwards.
no rain here in weeks. ground is clay and very dry........sorry about Hope, you can get some med you take for poison ivy, daughter in law tried it, worked pretty good, check with the pharmacist

Last weekend I noticed they had Virginia Creeper for sale at the garden center... $10 / pot!!! I could be rich.

can't believe some of the stuff they sell at garden centers,
you won't have to clean for a week and it will still smell clean

cages are nice looking don't really need any but if I lived closer I might pick one up

got to go get some flower beds cleaned out, Had a trip the the DR. office this AM DH had chest pain .... every thing is OK.......took up most of the AM though glad it is still cool enough to work out side

This picture just popped up on the facebook group! Makes even my tiny, black, icy heart twist into knots...

That brought a tear, Olive. Glad she got at least that, she has been through a lot.

Bleeding Hearts: Are they a special kind?
I have some reblooming ones, but i don't know what kind they are since i bought them at a flea market. They don't get really tall, though.

Grrrrr. My broody wanna-be's changed their mind in the heat. We didn't get even a sprinkle, either. Can't blame them, just disappointed.
I am thinking about getting another cochin to do my brooding in the future, are they usually more docile?
This Orp. has been mean since puberty, babies haven't improved her.

Oh, as to the question about me maybe wanting a porcelain roo, although it would make more sense on account of my breeding plans, i already have to choose between the 3 millie roos i have........i only have one bantam hen, so..... unless i can get a banty cochin or two this summer. Poor little du'ccle is soooo tiny, i don't even think she could cover one standard egg, and she's 2 months old! :D

I would love to see pics, though, although i think i know who i want, you never know. Personality is huge for me, too.

I don't suppose anyone here is good with Michigan turtles? Anyone know what this is?

He's just a little shaver, if he's largely hamless I'll set him back free. If he's a snapper or something that's going to harm the waterfowl then, probably not so much.

Sadly I'm not up on my herps.

Olive!!! YAY!!!

So glad he was found!

I don't want to jinx it but... Guess who is ditching a wedding for CS??? BF said we could go if I finished all my chores

The thinks kids do while they are on the toilet! Or we think they are on the pot. When my nephew comes over I have to make sure he does not go inn the bathroom by himself because he puts TP in the fish bowl

My son punched him in the eye yesterday... I wasn't happy about it, but I was kinda proud he gave that little stinker back what he had been dishing out for years!

Gave the little chicks some sand in a frizbee lastnight. The little ones crop was so hard and I thought he could use a little grit to help him out. They love it. Weren't sure at first, but now it is good fun scratching all that sand everywhere. I even hid some mealworms in there!!! Bonus!
The 3 week old (Noodle Soup) is an awesome bug finder and catcher! Noodle loves earwigs the best... Fine by me we have more than enough to fill that belly a million times over!

Going to go re-rig my pully system for the pop door... Maybe cuddle some uggos!
