glad they found her dog,,,,,

I agree it looks like a snapper, Raz you should open an animal kingdom in your back yard, a small charge and you could pay for your feed

I'm confused. That child appears to be wearing hard soled boots. Clearly her feet are now ruined forevermore. How could you do such a thing to the fruits of your own loin?

Lol, yes, those are her very special pink cowboy boots given to her by her cousin. I'm not a shoe nazi, but I limit things like those boots with hard thick soles to dress up play, not everyday wear.

Of course since I encourage bare feet, I have a child who loves shoes.

Why wouldn't I? I don't encourage pink, either...

Wanted to share a few pics of Kaia climbing a tree with the chickies.
A Juiseling in a tree.
It does my heart good to see kids exploring and enjoying nature.

Those photos make up for the 7 YO today on tour who was afraid of every little thing on the trail. The poor kid was terrified of any kind of bug, fly, beetle, dragonfly and even butterflies.
That kind of irrational fear could only come from the parent(s). How sad.

The interaction of critters never ceases to amaze me.
Bella is absolutely fascinated with Sebastian. It's just the drooling that has me concerned.

She doesn't do that with the chickens or ducks.

Yup those crazy parents. We have a beautiful beach up here. A few years ago there was a couple from Ann Arbor came up with their son. They carried him the whole time at the beach because of the "dirt". Poor kid just wanted to play. I read an article that said there was essential bacteria in the soil that we need to be in contact with. Don't remember the details but I've always let my kid get covered in dirt because of it. And you miss out on so much if you don't look at all the bugs! Speaking of which our first Monarch caterpillar died. I'm curious what kinds of problems they are having because the way he died was a first for us.

I'm assuming that your caterpillar was feeding on milkweed.
My first question would be where that milkweed came from.

If you collected the milkweed from the roadside, chances are good that the DOT or someone had sprayed pesticides. I'd need more details if you have them.
