I hope he does. I'd really like some, and I have a nearly empty coop right now and as soon as they are ready, the dot's will be moving into that coop with the 3 garage chickens, and the silkies coop is getting an expansion, and the meaties coop will be going into the run, up on a frame so its off the ground, and I can put 3 LF or 4 bantams in there.

My GLWs that I got from a breeder, they do not like me to pet them per-say, but they are the first to come running full tilt most the time. LOL. They aren't mean, but they are definitely stand-offish for the most part. But so lovely to look at. My do eat out of my hand, as long as I do not try and touch them.

Your pullets lacing is not to bad. It looks almost more penciled silver though. BUT I don't think Townline does the penciled silver. She'll be pretty though.

Our 3 are from Townline, too - via Family Farm and Home. If 2/3 of our first "pullets" are roosters, it will be very disappointing. Poor Alice (an Australorp who looks all hen to me) will miss her pals. And we'll have to find her some chicken friends for her before winter. I'm glad to be linked in to the MI community here. Now I know where to look for replacements, if need be.

Sigh... wait and wait and wait. We'll see.

Well, I got 2 GLWs and 2 SLWs, and one each is a boy. The neighbor, he also has the same... One of each. His boys are looking remarkably well considering they are hatchery birds. The one SLW I have that I think is a boy, he's also got dirty yellow legs, so do both the GLWs... But I knew I was getting hatchery quality to begin with, so I didn't really mind since I don't have an intention of breeding for standard, or at all. I did pick them since they are DP birds, and any male chicks that any of my broodies hatch when that time happens, well, they go into the fridge. I specifically chose my bird breeds on that factor alone... EXCEPT for the silkies. I got those originally because they are supposed to be kid friendly. But anyway, I don't really care about their color being off I guess... BUT if I am going to get cockerels when I purchased pullets, they could at least meet some SOP so I can get some use out of them aside from dinner. LOL

Oh, I've seen some horrible quality SLWs, the other two posted are good examples of poor and messed up lacing, but that first one isn't even laced... it's mottled.

The thing with chickens is that their breed classifications are 100% phenotypic. If you mated a RIR to another RIR and hatched out a bird that conformed to Buff Orp standards you'd have a Buff Orp, not a RIR. Parentage doesn't matter. Of course, we know that realistically the parentage will determine what you get, so you're certainly more likely to get a RIR from that cross, but I think you catch my drift. When a bird called a silver LACED something is not even laced it ceases to be that type of bird. I say you call him an uber rare Black and White Mottled Wyandotte and charge $150 per chick when you breed him. You know, like Jubilee Orps.

Chickmate! I was worried my post was buried and gone. Thank you, I will keep that name and number and look into it soon. I'm getting lambs this weekend so I can't run out and get chickens until after my husband warms up the sheep. It's baby steps with him. He was wary about me getting twelve chickens and was against the sheep completely until I talked him into it or rather talked around it.

I see you are from SE MI. Cool. That's where I come from. Temperance, born and raised. I wanted chickens when we lived in Samaria but our neighbor hated us already and I knew if I tried it would have spelled disaster. Thanks again!
