Small world :) I was still at Wardcliff Elementary when you graduated :) I was in the EL/meridian twp area through 2002, then again in 2004-5. I had lots of friends in Shaker Heights - it was about a 20 minute bike ride from the other side of town. Ah, memories.

Raz, unbelievable!! I think the people who complain about some noise thats a natural noise should be the one's in trouble. I hate a barking dog all day long barking dog which means to me the animal is not being taken care of, tyed up all day and night etc... thats not a natural noise the dogs trying to say something, get me the heck out of here. But a roo crowing whats wrong with it. Like you said your little roo only started just this week, whats the ladies problem? We ought to all go there with our roosters for a visit, hey I will bring my son's monster roo Mr. Jersey. Do you need all of us to go to the jury trial for support?

)
https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/682327/michigan-chickenstock-north-2012-august-or-september

Anyone who wants to help, volunteer or see what's going on (so far nothing on the thread yet) come on over and help. AFAIK Grayling is being looked at most seriously. So anyone in that area or a bit north or south of it with other info would be wonderful to have you speak up. I just htought it might be best to pull the majority of the future CS North talk out of the MI thread to keep it all together.

So come on down! or up!

It isn't going to be IN the military base at Grayling, right?! My military dependent I.D. recently expired (too old, hah)

BUT Grayling is only four and a half hours away that is MORE than do-able! The only time I know I wouldn't be able to go would be on the 25th of August, which is my mother's birthday. I'll either be finding my tent (missing since I last moved) or camping outta my car :D

And depending on how my girls cooperate, I might be able to bring either Araucana and/or Olive Eggers, hatching eggs and/or chicks. But not many of either, my flock is very small.

Wow I feel old LOL
It's sad almost all of those schools are closed now. Okemos is like a ghost town now. For most of my life everyone and their brother wanted to live there if they had money. Now everyone is moving out! I went to Edgewood and so did my kids, but a year after my son graduated it closed. The only original school left is Cornell. I still go back now and then to visit friends. When we first moved there almost every area of the town was corn field now it's all built up so I don't like to go there very often anymore.

I agree about chickens being a natural noise but as an owner of 5 dogs that do get chained and do bark, mine want to eat the cats, squirrels, and bunnies that tease them. I wonder what people would think if I let my dogs loose to control the feral cat, squirrel, and rabbit populations

I should add that I'm like most people and hate barking dogs so I either chase the critters away or bring my dogs in

I do feel the crazy cat lady across the street that feeds the strays and makes the problem worse should do jail time so I can reduce the cat population myself.
