Sister Update....

The surgery went very well. They are pretty certain that this round y procedure they did will do the trick and fix it up good. They'll know in a few days for sure, but are very optimistic. The only problems that would occur to make it not a success is if the ducts dilate/enlarge and ruin/tear the sutures. If the procedure fails, they'll have to open her back up, cut off nearly half the liver in order to remove the ducts. They can't just cut the ducts and close them off because of how they are wrapped/intertwined... SO, lets pray that this works or more drastic measures will have to be taken.

more prayers for continued recovery!

Having a tough time getting started this morning. I wonder if staying up until 130am reading has anything to do with it? Today is going to be the hottest day this year with a heat index in triple digits. The heat is going to be harder on us than it will be on the birds a long as they have accs to plenty of water and shade. I will be wetting the ground in all of my runs to help make it a little cooler.

Me too! Up late, drove DW to GR airport at 4 AM for her Boston/Grandbaby trip/fix, lol! It's hot already so working the corn today is out, but I have an old apple tree to remove so sitting in the tractor pulling a stump may be ok. Here it comes ready or not.

I'm slowly getting started as well. I changed the duck pool water while the coffee was brewing. The SLW was crowing pretty nice and the 2nd one is still learning. You can't help but laugh to hear a young try out his first few crows. It's just too bad that I have to re-home them or send them to camp.

I hope everyone has a good day, stay cool and take lots of breaks in the heat.

Thought I share some pics I took tonight. We spent the whole evening outside. Thank goodness for the breeze and the drop in the temp a little.

My son on his 67JD Lawn Tractor. He plans on cleaning it up & taking it to a tractor show.

Part of our garden

Better shot of the whole thing.

My yummy lettuce!

Beautiful Garden. I planted a large one this year only to have the tiller die. So it looks more like I'm growing weeds. I've given up weeding the rows and am just focusing on circles around each plant. I'm sure it looks interesting from the air.

I see our hot day forecast was changed from 90 to 87 and not the hottest day of the week for us. Will have to wait and see what we really get. I'm off to buy two new waterers today. How does a waterer break? I have two that will no longer hold water and it drives me crazy!

I am going to hold off on my frozen goodies this morning. I will run home at about 11:30 to check on everyone. Stay cool today everyone!

Morning All......Nice out here this morning but not for long. I woke this morning to find my brother watering the garden @ 6am! He helps DH out when he can because he plants a few things in there too....Brussel Sprouts....YUCK! Knew all you green thumbs would like the pics but like I said as much as we enjoy it is WORK......A lot of work. We supply family members & friends with some of the pickings for we have plenty. I also take some to work with me and give it to my Friday morning clients.

I'm gonna say porcelain or do they call it platinum.

Yesterday her neighbor was outside grilling at the fence line- filling the backyard with smoke (it triggers my moms asthma- I think they do it on purpose) and I was so tempted to turn the sprinkler so as to water them .....I didnt though. I DID however, accidentally drop and spill the sunflower seeds and peanuts that i was um...that I was eating...yeah, thats it. I was EATING sunflower seeds and peanuts and I accidentally spilled the bags on the ground. Feeding birds? Oh dont be silly, Im much too greedy with my peanuts and sunflower seeds to share them with wildlife on purpose.

You surprise me.....What a little deviant mind you have there!! I like it!! lol

We have a few peppers and a few tomatoes, a pumpkin, and have some watermelons started.

We have a few pumpkins planted too....sorta of a little incentive for the kids!!

Have a great day everyone.....stay cool & drink lots of water !

Gardens are a lot of work! I've spent the last week weeding mine and I also gave up on weeding it all and made circles around the plants and round-up-ed the rest

I've got corn, snow peas, cucumbers, green beans, peppers, spinach, summer squash, zucchinni, onions, raddishes, 2 varieties of watermelon, muskmelon, pumpkin, and 4 varieties of tomatoes along with my herbs: basil, oregano, and parsley ( I like spaghetti/lasagna ).

Well, I have 80 here already, with 48 humidity. Doesn't feel so bad right now. Is saying we will have a 30% chance of rain. I like that, and I hope that 30% will turn into 100%. Hey, it's good to have dreams.

I think I will end up having to cull Vanna. Her abdomen is very swollen and starting to droop. She's not got an egg stuck. She isn't wanting to eat or drink either. She's just laying in the dirt, a big hole they've excavated under the big coop. I tried to coax her out, but she's not having it. SO, got fresh water under there and a feed dish close by. UGH! I know EYP happens, but do I have to have it happen to two breeder birds from the same breeder? Is this a common thing for Wyandottes? I know it can happen in hatchery birds, but these girls were quality birds... They've not even been laying a year! Guess I will go ask on the wyandotte thread...

Gotta go to work soon. Going to start as early as I can, especially if we get the heat they are calling for...

Tee, sorry you've lost a hen. I sent a pm about the duke trap, sure you've already seen it by now...

AND SAM DIDNT POST YESTERDAY! Does that mean that yesterday hasnt really happened yet? hmmm.
LOL Not button quail. Serama's - No clue. They sure are cute and tiny though. I will take my camera out today and get pics for you

A couple of them have little puffy cheeks like the d'Anvers. I am thinking mixes of some kind but don't know what. When I bought them they were suppose to be Mottled d'Anvers but wrong leg color and wrong comb for a d'Anver.
