I like the 2nd picture. He sure is a handsome guy.
The pictures are of 2 different roos.
But I agree, these are stunning specimens that pictures don't quite capture.
In the sun, they have every colour of the rainbow in their feathers.

I sure hope we get some rain. I feel like i'm living in death valley.... I think my birdbath is sustaining a small population of bees, they seem to be pretty steady!
Went out to scope the blackberries, looks pretty dismal. Kinda dried. Was hoping to make some jam this year

I just found my Holland Lop, Foofoo collapsed. I assume heat stroke...heat exhaustion..he is still alive, but barely.

Is there anything I can do for him?

I wet his fur, I stuck the waterbottle in his mouth, but he isnt drinking. He is on a pillow in front of Tiffs fan right now.

Im a tech, and I know there is something I can do...but Im blanking. Id give sub-q fluids if I was at work.

Can you get a picture?
I went out to the raspberry patch and the berries are small and stunted.

I checked my bees and they are thriving right now. I need to add another super for honey production. I pulled the cover and got stung once, so I'm sure M2M will laugh.

I have that bag of lactated ringers that you gave me for Sebastian. Would that help?

I'm stumped. I'm looking for a chicken sitter, and having bad luck.

Our 3 are still in the basement in a large box. If we left 2 waterers and a lot of food, would they be okay for 3 days? I figure we'd get them set and leave in the morning, be gone for that day, a solid other day, and come back later on the third day.

We don't have to worry about heat in the basement. And with 2 waterers, we'd be pretty sure they wouldn't be w/out. They haven't even tipped one (yet).

Thoughts?

Anyone near you from the Chickensitting Thread? Not many available for MI, but it may help.

could you hold your rabbit in cool water for a bit? I make my chickens stand in a cool dish of water when they are overheating. That way the feathers don't get wet and trap the heat........since she is already wet i'd keep her there until she was breathing a little slower. Then put her in front of the fan. Do you have a treat that she can't resist, fruit maybe that could be put in the fridge in the meantime?

If I had SLW hens I would take that rooster just so he wouldn't get eaten but I only have 1 SLW pullet so no need for a rooster. But I think he is beautiful.

And my lusty boys...

The photos do not do these guys justice. They are so much more handsome in real life. They are large bodied and bold protectors of the hens. I hope they taste as good as they look. I'll be sorry to see them go. I think the hens might disagree.
