mom 2, can you flip them the bird or is that illegal? I would not like some one to be filming my every move, seems that should be an invasion of privacy...
oh in the beginning I did. And danced. All the way to the truck in the driveway...and told them off. Not loudly but since they are picking up all audio..Their cameras go right to my front door. My privacy- legally invaded.
Daron - What about a fruit tree that would ordinarily produce this time of year. Like a cherry? The fruit each year would be like a little tribute to Micah, something they can have each year to remember and celebrate him. You could even make up a cherry pie or even just fresh cherries to give them along with the tree this year.
I like the idea of a Cherry tree!
BRs found the compost pile today and really had a ball! I tried to show the SGs and EEs what to do in it but they are too girlie to get dirty and get some bugs!

How is everyones pennies and water bags holding up? Still keeping the flies away?
mine are too! haha!
And my bags of water and pennies do not keep flies away- OR, if they do I would hate to see how many I would have without them!

Just slipped three chicks underneath a broody. She has been broody for weeks, and these just hatched last night in the incubator. She was a good mom last time she raised a chick, so hopefully she is a good mom for these three!

Good luck with the new Mama, Stacykins- broody raised is so much easier..

Sam is missing. Did he say he was going away and I missed it?

*sniff* Morning coffee is just not the same.

After lingering for two days Yeti is finally gone. I'm sad because she was so sweet but it is not unexpected. I am actually surprised she has lived 4 months. On a good note I found my Cochin/Wellsummer cross is a hen. At least she had better be or one of my head roosters is confused. She is black with gold lacing around her neck and the softest chicken I own.

This week is play catch up from last week being gone, but then when I am finally caught up I leave with my son for camp on Sunday. My only thought was as hot as it was last week, I most likely wouldn't have gotten anything done at home anyway.

Farmerboy - I like the idea of a tree. Friends of ours did that as well.

Broody hens with chicks are so sweet but, I don't want more chicks. Broody hens are driving me crazy! They cause a serious nest box traffic jam. I break them and then 5 new ones start. Last year I didn't even have one broody, what is the difference?

I Know! I have one broody, she is a demon! She was a good vicious Mama though. LOL. Anyway, she has a nest box all to herself, and if anyone tries to get in it, watch out! She gets like a dervish and just flips out. LOL. BUT, with what... 7 nest boxes, and 3 of those boxes can accomodate 2-3 hens at a time... Well, there is no need for a traffic jam, so why the egg in the meaties run? And no, it was not from Grouchy Pants. She lays hers in the big coop... Not in the nest box that is closest for her, although she knows it is there, used it once, and now won't go in it at all.

See, I am glad I am not the only one who noticed Opa's absence of late...

Tap...I was just thinking about Yeti this morning... I was hoping she was recovered

I miss Opa and his morning pearls of wisdom and happiness. Maybe we have to visit "Opa's Place" forum to get our daily dose.

I can wait to have a broody! I don't want to fight for eggs!

If I open the coop my roo crows a few times and is done...
If BF opens the coop it is an all day crowfest!

What up with that?

I know, I know, you guys all missed me! I am back now so no need to panic...........lol, ok, I know.. rolls eyes!

So......... vacation was seriously JUST OK.... HOT is an understatement! I was about as hot down in KY as it was up here. The caves and some swimming was a welcome relief to the heat. We ended up riding home Saturday night instead of waiting till Sunday.

Everyone at home survived the heat without any help... luckily! But, I think my parents are getting to the point where they're not going to be able to help us anymore. They locked an interior door to get into the house we don't lock.... so when we got home at 3:00, we had to punch the lock out and buy a new one. Plus they over fed the birds and used up over 50# bag of feed that should have lasted longer than 4 days.... ugh!

guess I'll have to break down and get an outside farm cat to take care of the now well fed mouse population!!

Hope all is well with everyone. I see there are some losses, so I will say sorry to everyone who's had one recently.

I'm sorry, but I'm not going to go back and read missed posts.

Tap, so sorry to hear about Yeti.

The pics you posted of her is what made mom fall in love with Silkies. Currently we have 1 adult hen, and 6 new babies. Any guess as to how old they might be?? Or what color it should be called?
