Just looked at the radar map on the Weather Channel and it appears that a serious downpour should be here anon.

I've got to wake Granny in a half hour, which is at least 3 hours before her normal wakeup time. She has an appointment for a MRI at 6:45. She has been experiencing quite a lot of pain in her right arm and the doctor feels there is a problem with neck that is the root cause of her discomfort. Once he has the MRI results they can be used as a road map to plot a treatment procedure. Got to keep the old girl going as she is already talking about next year's Chickenstock.
Opa, hope Granny is ok she has to come to CS next year/fall for sure!!
Yes, maybe the city would prefer barren toxic waste expanses to greenery.
Up north here it is all sand so our grass is burnt up, I hate that but at least we don't have to mow.

Looking at the radar.....looks like the rain is breaking up in the last 3 miles over the lake before it hits land where I'm at.

I hope it' just the leading edge that does that and we get some good stuff that pushes through. On Tuesday is split and went around us. We got to hear the thunder to the north and south, and then the cells merged back together east of us. Ooooooh we need rain!!!

I've got a hen that I think is trying to go broody. Want to give her some eggs to sit on so we can get some eye candy in one of the pens for egg laying only. Anyone have pretty large or medium sized birds with fertile eggs? Mom likes the Polish, but BLRW, LO, French Blue Copper Marans, or maybe even something porcelain?

Well, you could always just turf it.

We got it finally here in Holland. Storm came through and continued most the night. I really wasn't expecting it, everything else we were supposed to get has passed up on this area. Well anyway, thunder and lightning and a big OH DANG! I didn't put the feeders in the unused coop. Well it does get used... as an egg repository. SO, this morning I went out armed with the bag of feed and an empty feeder, fill that up and set it in the summer coop, and does any of them pay attention? Nope... They went straight for the wet feed anyway. I even called them over to the dry feed, but they didn't care. So, we feed it was. I have to go to work, maybe by the time I get home they'll have either eaten it all, or I will have a chance to get it cleaned and dumped. Don't want sick birds.

Anyway, at least I will not have to water veggies today. Probably not so much tomorrow either till the evening, and then probably not the tomatoes. The birds don't need me to water their bushes either today. Sweet.

Oh my, and I have another broody. She's puffs up like she is going to kill me though. I kept throwing her off the nest, but she'd just got for a run around the yard all puffed up snapping at every one, threatening Rod Stewart, preen her feather, wait for me to go out of the chicken yard, and then she'd high tail it back to the nest box. I am giving her 2 more days, if she continues, I'll give her a few eggs to try. I hope I pick fertile ones. I'll just give her three. Fia's, Vonna's, and another. I know my big girls eggs. The others... not so well yet. LOL.

AND I have a new crower. He sounds like he had his volume stolen, or a sock stuffed in his mouth. LOL. Roger's larengytis crow is better sounding. HEHE, Its one of the boys that Skatter hatched out. A fav/dotte boy. He's very pretty. I am not sure if he's dinner yet or not. We'll have to see how his hormones go. His to siblings are girls... and I do mean siblings. Same dad, Vanna/Vonna moms. Maybe I could just find him a new home. I do mean pretty.

Well off to the land of littering. I mean delivering.

Sam, I hope and pray Granny will be ok.
Welcome, City Chick. Chatty bunch here, so try and keep up.
It's softly raining, yeah!!
I hatched two eggs in May. Well, I didn't, but, Both.... are boys! Not good for me. Bantam Favorelle. Any takers??? Kim, you like boys, don't you?

We only got .3" of rain out of the system that moved through the state last night but it filled my rain buckets so I'm not complaining. I don't think it's enough to rejuvenate the pasture for the sheep though, my poor sheep. Since we're new to the area, I'm having trouble finding a source of hay for them. :(

I have been feeding my sheep hay for quite some time now. Even feeding the horses hay now because the pasture is shot. If you can find a livestock stockyard around you they usually have hay also.
