Glad you found out how much fun chickens can be and also that you found this forum. Be warned, both are addictive. Welcome

OK, how is everyone fairing will the unending rain? We were at 5 inches yesterday morning. I haven't checked again.

The chickens look like drowned rats. They hang out in the light rain but as soon as it pours they go a running for some cover!

I am off to take a nap....only thing to do on a rainy day right?

I just went by the Shiawassee River on Grand River in Howell at it was over its banks. All of my birds are looking like drowned rats as well. I went out to check for eggs and got drenched. I think that I'm going to exercise my right as an old man and take a nap.

Didn't take a nap after all. Wound up surfin' and I found a site- americanlivestock.com. They have a Thermo Controlled Outlet for $12.50 that would be ideal for controlling a heat lamp in your coops. It turns on and 35 degrees and off at 45 degrees. Could take out some of the worry about the cold nights we have coming

Hi All,
Just thought I would say, hello. I often read the Mi thread but never chime in.
I say yuck to all this rain. Although I am getting some things caught up in the house. Great day to stay in and do some canning!
Besides my chickens love to play out in the rain!

Anyone break out the ark yet?

I am seriously considering it!! I had to move some birds into temporary quarters to dry out. The good news, this week is supposed to be nice and will give me time to fix all the leaks I have found!!

I agree way to much rain. I had to give my meaties a piece of plywood for a floor and a heat lamp, they were very wet and cold. Other than that I haven't found any leaks so I guess that is a plus. We didn't have hardly any rain all summer and now this!

Can't wait until the sun comes back out.

i am SO grateful that my house is on a hill. people's yards are flooding around here.

we have a walkout in the front so, we don't even need a sump pump. thank God!

it was raining sideways a little while ago!

I have no idea how many inches we've had over here on the northeast side but it just isn't letting up. My free ranging chickens looked like drowned rats. I've got to go suit up now and swim across the yard to close the pop door.

I am so glad the coop is on a sandy hill!
