Day 4! Started enrichment activities outside of the brooder - they’re getting so big! Will need to move them to the camping tent later this week.

Hoping to hear back this week -They are so cute!! I can't wait for the genetic testing to know the males and females. That feels like magic!![]()

Hoping to hear back this week -for hens. The kids and I have gotten very attached to all of them, they really have their own little chicky personalities.
Sorry the first tests didn’t work out! I hope that the second try is a success!View attachment 4181409Unfortunately the eggshell DNA testing didn’t work out - there wasn’t enough blood and the shells all started rotting during transit
I was able to get blood samples by clipping toenails - hopefully I got enough blood (awfully tiny drops). The chicks did not enjoy this process at all, and neither did I, though a few of them were surprisingly calm.
Sent the samples today, and hoping it’s enough to get results. Maybe next week.
In other news, moved the brooder and flock to their own tent in the garage. They are happily exploring.
