Mid march hatch a long

Still fighting for the chick. Today i''ll be out the house many hours at work and college...I'm planing to get out job early just to check on the chick and make him drink something. and still hoping to see him or her running around all the others.

5 out of 7 are now sleeping in the brooder. Other 2 eggs have not shown any sign of peeping. Will wait 48 hrs till I examine them.

sorry for every ones loss that had chicks pass during the march hatch.

my hatch was all done last night. 15 out of 20 hatched which would have been good but two died right away, one was severely deformed (it didn't even have complete legs or top beak) so I culled it, and now when I got home from work today two more had died and one looks like it will die and yet another doesn't look too great. It is sad to see them dieing. It has been a sad couple days. One of our goat kids that we got last wednesday died overnight sunday! One the plus side I do have 8 healthy new chicks that I will keep to replace some of my old hens this summer. I hope this week gets better! (We are getting another goat tomorrow)

Anyone have any idea why so many would be weak and die? I am sure it wasn't a humidity issue in the incubator. The two (almost 3) that died today were healthy and happy this morning. Their navels were a little swollen but didn't look too bad.

sorry about the chickies Tdub. I wish I knew why they died. mine all died on day 4..I have 3 left that seem to be doing fine, but the 6 that died also seemed to be fine.

I have been doing some searching and I am really thinking that infection best fits my situation. I am still trying to save one but I don't think it will make it. It has gotten to the point of not even being able to lift its head.

I'm sorry to hear about all the losses. It makes me feel so blessed and lucky about my little ones. I had 12 eggs and so far 10 hatched out. I am in love and driving everyone at the coffee shop and school nuts showing them pictures of them. I need to realize that "normal" people don't really care about my chicks as much as me but then "normal" is over rated.
By the way how do you clean an incubator? I want to do it properly.

I forgot to post a picture of the one's that are out of the incubator now.

The chick in the front is the one that was upside down and is also supper attached to me so it is a keeper. I had to keep moving her back because she wanted me. The naked neck next to her has great amerauana markings.
