Hello folks,
I am new to chickens and no exposure to raising chickens while I was growing up. I have a feeling that I wish that I had done this years ago. I don't have any chickens yet, but that is the plan. Raising chickens has been gaining momentum here in Western Washington. We are noticing chickens everywhere! As I started my research, I was continually redirected to this site so we figured, why not join? I'm looking forward to learning about raising chickens and building the coop & run.

Hi! :frow Welcome to BYC from a fellow Washingtonian. A word of caution, raising chickens is an addiction. So, when building your coop and run, plan one big enough for twice the amount of chickens you want, and then build it a little bigger than that. :lau Read up on coops and runs in the forum for that subject; just go to forums and pan down the page and you'll see it. Make sure it is predator proof because there is just nothing worse than coming out to find one of your precious girls has been attacked. There are a lot of very experienced people here ready to help you along the way. Don't hesitate to ask questions!
