Midget White Turkey

I was given a trio (2 females and a male) of Midget White turkeys last January. Both females hatched out poults at the end of May. They were great mothers. It was funny because they started laying eggs again in the summer, and one consistently sat on the eggs, so I got a few poults at the end of August. Right now we have a total of 9 MW. There were some losses on poults because some got out of the pen, and one of the adults was killed by something.

We ate one of the males last Thanksgiving (as well as a Narragansett). They both were delicious and tasted the same (I think that's because they were eating the same food, plus our birds free range in the yard). They are easy keepers and not aggressive toward us. Sometimes the females will chase the rooster around the yard. :) I want to start some of the eggs of both breeds earlier so that they are larger in November. All poults hatched out in May last year. That MW male that made it to the table was 11 pounds.
