Midget White Turkeys

What is a BSW? I assume the BBW is Braud breasted white? I have heard and read that the Midget white came from using the royal palm as it is smaller, and the occasional black feather may indicate thats the truth?

If you put the Beltsville white and Midget white side by side, I wonder how much differences the eye could see. It would be interesting to find a photo of carcase side by side.

Am interested in the Midget Whites, though with turkeys, I want to do my own thing, I want a bird large enough to deter smaller predators (cats, raccoons, skunks, small fox) and large/heavy enough to be kept within a 6 foot chain link fence (not fly, as adults). I will provide shelter etc., and safe roosting for the night time. safe nesting boxes etc., eventual plan to free range on 2 1/2 acres. I would like a breed with a reasonably plump form, but not so much that it is life shortening or fertility affecting. I hate to say, but those strict heritage birds look kind of pathetic on the table! And I love color! Yeah, they won't be midget whites anymore, but the genetics will live on in my more colorful varietal birds, that are hopefully bred to thrive in the central valley I know this is an old thread but hope some are still here to tell me what happened with your birds... And would like to contact someone for hatching eggs in CA.
