Midnight Majesty Maran

Hoover hatchery sells them. They are a hybrid meant for egg production , better than a true Marans. Sex linked , egg production will not breed true.

I don't think that would be considered a Marans in my neck of the woods

I have a Midnight Majesty Maran, a Hoover;s bird, purchased at a local feed store. Eleanor is totally black -- and lays Beautiful deep, dark brown eggs. She has always looked a bit like a roo, a big bird with a large comb and wattles, But as a chick, she was completely black, right down to her legs and feathered feet.

@Cinderblock I have had Marans for quite some time and have never heard of a Midnight Majesty Marans. There are Marans that are barred. His comb and waddles scream cockerel, Marans are usually fairly large birds.
The males usually make good providers and protectors. And if raised properly will respect people. Are his Feet fathered?

He has one feather on one of his legs. Hoover breeds these chicks.

More accurate Marans wanna be's but that wouldn't sell would it.?
If you do not want to breed your chicken it is OK. Will produce eggs more than a pure Marans. But the name is misleading to the novice chicken keeper.

The eggs are really the important part. That and as long as you are happy with your bird, I had never heard of these and found it interesting.
