Might be jumping the gun a little...

Red eared slider, lol.

My aunt's boyfriend told be he was gonna buy one. I told him he was wasting money I could get him one. Later that evening I showed up with one from my pond that was the size of a 50 cent piece. Saved him like $15. Think Mikey is like 5 years old now and has been living a spoiled life eating turtle food and dried shrimp daily.

Oh and welcome to the insanity. I'm somewhat of a conservationist but on a private scale. I do do wildlife rescue and release, sometimes taking the ones to local schools for a "show and tell" but tend to stick to myself.
We adopted our turtle from a family that had her for 15 years, and we have had her for another eight now. My wife loves turtles but we didn’t want to get a young one since so many are currently in captivity. Red eared sliders are now naturalized all over the world because people get them when they are small, and then forget they can live up to fifty years in captivity, so we wanted to give a turtle a chance to live out its golden years in an environment it’s used to. So now Rosie hangs out in her 120 gallon tank with some feeder fish eating pellets, worms and dried anchovies.
