MIL rant/question

I find that cayenne pepper and/or mouse traps teach dogs to stay out of the trash.

the dog was sick because it ate something our of your trash can because THEY haven't bothered to teach the dog to stay out of the trash.

THEN, when you have a 55lb dog in your hands, you have no choice but to use your foot to push the dog away and I can guarantee you that if it had been me, I probably wouldve punted the dog when it did that because when they are worked up like that, a simple "NO" does not work and they don't hear or listen to a darn thing and grabbing a crazed fighting dog is dangerous so you were right to "push" the dog away.

Other than that, drop it. The good thing is that they won't ask you to take care of their dog again. Let them hire a petsiiter or take it to a kennel since they apparently don't appreciate the family freebie.

Sunny DH apparently agreed with you. By time I got back this afternoon he had apparently given MIL a piece of his mind about not giving me the benefit of the doubt. At this point everyone is backpedaling their stories except for me......

HarlansHollaw you were also right. She's a few cards short of a full deck, bless her heart

Glad to hear he said something other wise I was about to quote Sunny too..

I would have said NO pet sitting especially when you already had a notion that the two dogs would not fair well with each others company..

Sorry to hear about the daughters clothes.. thats crazy that dog would have been in trouble in my book...

Seriously? How would being cruel to the dog be helpful in this situation?

It did what dogs do. Do you want to eat Ex-lax every time you do something stupid or wrong, particularly when you haven't been taught any better?

If you meant it as a joke, well, it didn't come across that way.

That was my first thought. If the dog ate something that is causing an obstruction, well,it could be REALLY bad. Not your fault, but if the dog is truly that sick, maybe they need to take him to the vet.

Well, I would not punish the dog for the owner's stupidity. This, of course, being related to the fact that I don't beat animals.....

The dog seems to have recovered and I suspect it WAS something it ate from the trash. When asked, "What was in your trash?" I answered, "Don't know, I'm not in the habit of inventorying my trash before I throw it out!"

So long as the dog seems better I am letting it go but I will not pet sit this animal in my house again.

I won't do the chickens again, unless she revisits her set up so you don't have to walk through the 7 roosters' pen to get to the hens!!! "They won't attack anybody!" Yeah, right.
