MILK SNAKES! AHHHH maybe graphic

I have spend a couple hours cleaning up this thread and will give you all just one warning:

This is not a debate forum.
Stay on topic..... the O.P.'s topic, not your adgenda.
No ranting, no pushing ideology, no name calling, no flaming, etc.

The predator section will have discussions that include killing predators. If that is a problem for you, then dont read it. If you cant read it without arguing about it, then stay out of this section. We will not tolerate the harrassment of members who kill predators by those who disagree with that method of predator control.
If you have workable no-kill solutions, than offer them without being judgmental or argumentative or your comments will be removed. Do not ever hijack another member's thread to debate whether or not predators and pests should be killed.

Personally I like snakes, had a few as pets on and off, BUT this year they have been quite a pest. I love that they will eat rodents but not when they help themselves to my very precious silkie eggs. Lost weeks worth before I caught it in the act. And I've had 3 more doing the same since then. I've also have had them eat chicks before. Very frustrating after all the hard work to hatch and brood them. Just my experiences.

Alright yall, listen up. I'm sorry for gettin a little... hacked earlier, I'm usually very laid back, just had a heck of a day yesterday.

I'm sorry this whole thing turned into a fight...that's certainly not what I intended. I never meant to hijack the thread, push my ideas, argue with others, etc. It really upsets me if this is the way that the whole thing came across.

I just wanted to provide additional information for the thread about dealing with snakes. If that is out of line, I apologize. I suppose I will just have to stick to talking about snakes in real life. Sorry. :|

The great snake debate.....to kill or not to kill. You'll find all sorts of answers on here from snake lovers and snake haters. Bottom line? Do what you think is safest and best for your flock and family. To answer your question in case someone didn't, yes, snakes can kill chickens. There was a recent post(s) about this very thing not too long ago. A pretty small snake strangle a chicken and left it because it couldn't eat it. You have to decide whether it's worth the risk to your flock and potentially yourself (snake bites can be nasty) to let them carry on and maybe eat some rats and or other snakes, or to kill them or remove them and be done with it.

The best kind of snake protection for your flock is 1/4" hardware cloth. The holes are super small.
