Lynne, I ordered eggs. There are quite a few fine dining restaurants near where I live.. most of which I have worked in previously. I spoke with a couple chefs and sealed the deal on quail farming for them. There is a mennonite processor that is in the process of getting state certified and is the ONLY one in the tri state area that will do quail. (Must be either USDA or state certified to sell to restaurants in the state) I have been wanting to do this for years but, having to drive 4 hours away for a processor was the problem. This processor is less than 5 minutes from my house and their prices are awesome. Im really excited about this. ...And, hoping it can be profitable. Im a stay at home mom and my boys are getting a bit older (18mo and 4) so I can start living a life of my own again and want to contribute to the income while remaining at home... Rusty is drawing up plans for our pens and grow out areas. ...looks like my menagerie is growing exponentially
Oh, and Gail... mine very well may be on the kitchen counter... one of the few places out of reach of the 18 mo. old walking time bomb

Yes, of course! You have to post a note on top that says anyone breathing on or going near it will be wounded by a big mother hen!
But really, if you can fit it on your kitchen counter then your 'bator isn't big enough!
Santa needs to visit you.
after the MIL makes her comment make sure to bring up the baby chicks from where ever you have them in the house to visit the family.
Dear Santa,
I have been so good this year.My hatch rate is near 75% the only thing that would make it better would be a big Sportsman..I know it won't fit under the tree so I have left a space right near it..even has an outlet. If you wouldn't mind plugging it in.Lastly Santa, I have counted and can easily put in a few dozen bantam mf cochin eggs if you wouldn't mind filling my stocking with some.
Oh Santa,it sure would make me happy and my family really likes it when I'm happy

Msbear,
I think you know that we raise Coturnix for the restaurant for which we grow exclusively. They buy the eggs & either pickle them or make Scotch eggs which is one of their famous appetizers. They also buy the birds & have them processed in Los Angles. It has been great for us as it gives us something to provide the restaurant in the winter when the crops are not producing. Good luck~! I'm sure you won't regret your choice of birds as these little guys are not only friendly but prolific. PM me if you need any additional info.
