My first batch is out. I have another batch going into the hatcher tomorrow and another right behind it... got a few interesting colors. This batch was collected as soon as I organized my breeders so, there's no tellin who's the baby daddy

Im fairly certain this ones mother is

She hatched out very similarly but was darker. And, she put on an even distribution of pattern on her ENTIRE body very quickly. She's dark, yes, but.. Im hoping this will be a lighter version of her with a wider tooshie

I also wound up with a couple of these little hopefulls with white starting on the tips of the wings already

I need to take pics of my week old hatch. i got some light yellow ones with a black stripe on the top of their heads and black and white pin feathers. These are from my second roos who has too much black and a hen that doesnt have quite enough chevrons. I sure am impatient to see them change. My Feb. 14 hatches all looked quite different and now all look so much alike except one partridge looking chicks. Is there going to be any consistency in chick color?

I know it'll be great when the pattern is perfected to the point that all the chicks look the same BUT it's SOOOO much fun to see all the different colors!

Those chicks are adorable

Awesome Ms Bear! Neat little group of chicklets! I've found that the color with those white tips, grows to be a good mille color. As lovely a shape as your hens are, you'll have quite typey youngsters when these grow.
Nadine--The little hen in your egg auction has such nice type. Gosh, half a dozen like her would be a great start! Now just to get those boyos showing the nice shape too.
Just wanted to give compliments where its due!!

If anyone here has any extra eggs they could spare 6 of to ship this tuesday or wednesday, please shoot me a pm, and the price... this is the last batch of eggs i am looking for for the easter hatch....

Thanks
Angela

MsBear, they are lovely! I get a few blue ones and I just have to sell them since I don;t want blue in my program. I know which roo throws it so I just keep an eye out. I can't give up on great type because of blue.

Thank you for the compliment, Sackman. I keep working on type and the color and pattern are coming along with it. I know adding Mottled is going to set me back some but I put together a few crosses of not very well marked birds and got that pullet. She is an Xavier daughter out of a sister that isn't marked well at all. I am not happy with color I am hatching now but Xavier is in with mostly black girls from the Mottled cross. I knew I would see a step in the wrong direction with color but I expect type to be there and with the new roos i have growing up I hope I will see more improvement this year.

yotetrapper, I wish I had extra eggs to send you but I am booked up for a while.

I thought blue was a recessive gene that required another blue or a splash to get blue... You hatched a blue mf from your non blue birds?? Whoa! That would be wierd. If it has nice type, I may give them a shot.

Yes, I am not sure what is in the background of some of my birds. Blue could be in a hen or two as well as this one roo and they just met up and gave me some blue offspring. I show it on my For Sale page. It isn't extremely obvious but enough that I just don't breed them. They sell as good yard pets around here. Everyone loves blue, for some reason.
If you breed yours they would probably sell like mad.
