Mille Cochin Info

That is great that you were able to take in your birds.
Hope your homes were in good shape and the chickens homes were liveable once returning home. Thank goodness it wasn't as bad as it could have been.

Alright. I have resisted asking this very newb question for about three weeks. When do these little girls start to lay?! My trio from Erin were hatched in February, and I assumed around the 19th or so. If I am close to being right, they are around 27wks and still no eggs, no egg squat, no egg song - nothing! Their faces are red, they have combs and wattles (have for awhile now - about 5wks). I want some eggies! I want to test fertility! I want fluffy, banty, baby Cochins... eventually. More than likely they are on strike because their coop isn't done yet.

Hard to say, Cochins aren't reliable eggs machines. They lay when they want to lay. When they are happy, healthy, and have a good nesting box, are free from parasites and not stressed. Give them time, they will lay eventually. Maybe in a few weeks or so. If not, mention making chicken stew.
