Mille Cochin Info

Hello! I'm very interested in getting some good quality mille fleur bantam cochins (pullets) to add to my small flock. Are they really hard to find? I live outside of Atlanta, GA. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

Mike Vogan will probably be the closest breeder to you -- dunno what he's currently got, but you should check with him first. His user name here on BYC is bantyman.

I think I will probably be second-closest. I'm still selling birds, but I'm not selling pullets without cockerels. If you're interested, you can see the available birds I've got here:

Or, you can find birds for sale across the country -- IF you're willing to pay for shipping!

Yay, I just got Milles! I've been following this thread, marvelling at all the pretty birds, and waiting for my chance to join in. I just hatched seven of MFC breeding: three light, two medium, and two dark (one is solid blue/black). Really excited to see how they grow up.

Alright, I posted an auction for a trio here on BYC. Will see how it goes. I went out today and went through my birds. I’ve got 3 other Roos and 4 other Cockerels that I can’t force myself to sell so I decided to let “Red” go. My wife had to force me to choose two females to sell off with him. It’s a good thing she’s around or we’d be totally over run with the little critters. I’ll be sad to see Red go though. He’s a great little Roo. He used to fly up onto my shoulder when I had him in the big coop outside. He’s a friendly Rooster.
Who knows though, maybe no nobody will bid on them )

To everyone else that has inquired, I’m sure my wife will make me find homes for some others. I’ll let you know when some might come available.

Does anyone have any MF Cochins available? I bought some from MsBear...but a rogue Columbian got in the run...LOL Erin is gonna fix this...but I gotta get my fix on the MF Cochins. LOL Please help with my addiction...thanks!

I'm sure this has been posted before, but I can't seem to find it!

So, I will ask... I would like to start a LF Mille Cochin project. What would be the best way to start? I think I remember reading that buff cochin with speckeled sussex is a good start, but I don't remember if which one needs to be the roo. Any info would be great or links to point me in the right direction. If you don't want to post about it "again!" you can PM or e-mail me. Thanks so much! I am so grateful for all of you who know so much about this stuff! (Is the flattery working yet?

If anyone is really interested, this thread has a whole bunch of usefull info. that we kind of skipped over when we started this one.

basically, it's buff columbian cochin x mottled cochin. Wheaten is a gene used to make buff columbian and is necessary to make mille fleur. ...so you get the wheaten and buff in one shot by using buff columbian
