Mille Cochin Info

This is the only one I have of him right now (middle). I need to get some updated pics.
I am not happy with his tail at all right now. I hope it's just because he's in a funky phase.

ETA: He's about 14wks? He just got 'active' two weeks ago.

Dinner is definately from Ruby Rod. I think the only chick I have from Wizard is Ivan.

He's the second chick hatched (could have been the first egg laid) and is much different from any of the other chicks. Of course, the variety I have in the first batch of chicks, which are all Inky's, is amazing. I can't wait to see what my current batch has. In it I have chicks from both of my roos over 3 hens. My next batch, due to be set soon, has my Westknoll roo over 2 of my Wildwood hens

I have no plans to stop incubating any time soon. If ever. I made the mistake of completely taking my first incubator down to clean it, and now I can't get the temp to stable. Guess it needs a new thermostat, but I bought it off eBay so I'd have to buy a replacement, which I just haven't done yet. So, I'm down to one incubator, and I'm not going to ever completely dismantle it! It has slowed me down to one hatch at a time, though, which maybe isn't such a bad thing. But yeah, I may change my mind this winter!
The Silkie is a red sport that comes out of Paint breeding from time to time. I may use him in a Silkie project I have in mind...
Wul, yeah....aren't you supposed to dump shavings on your head when you are doing chores? Doesn't everyone?

Okay, I am trying to keep up with your youngsters and their parents! LOL It is hard enough to keep up with mine and I have tagging systems and leg bands and records!
Ivan is handsome his own self, lots of loud color.

You go, girl! Keep on hatching as hard as you can! I am glad you don't let the winter stop you from hatching. It gets cold here but not like where you live. Besides, chicks brighten those long winter days and Gracie needs to have lots of pets!
I will be excited to see all your new hatches and kids growing up.

Oh my, I hope I can find one of my friends that has a red sport out of their Paint projects! That would be most excellent in my Sizzle project! I did not think it looked exactly like a Porcelain or a Calico Silkie so I had to ask. I have a friend that wants to give me a Paint Silkie in exchange for some of my tomatoes. Oh boy, what a great trade!

I have a cockerel growing out that looks like Ivan, Fancy Feathers. Is he fully grown? If not, does anyone have a picture of an adult roo with that coloring as a juvenile?
I think everyone is getting a little closer to better patterns rather than the random stuff we used to get.

What breeding is your fella from?

Great coloring on his chest! Coming along nicely with that pattern. Can't wait to see some updated photos.

I've no idea what lines/breeders he's bred from. I got him from Cadaeu.

I am actually not happy with any of my roos. Milroy needs to go, he's pinched. I wish I had kept Milton, but he was pinched for the longest time and no breast flowers. Well, he all of a sudden developed one heck of a tail at 1.5yrs old. He was already replaced and had to go at that point. Now I have these 2 cockerels growing out and no clue if either are decent enough to keep. What I do know is that I am not happy with my MFCs at all. I know I have to start some place, but their type is just horrid.

I am not happy with Cochins at all right now.

Cadeau got some of her birds from me so maybe that is where your little fella came from. Could be some of the same breeding as what Nancy has and that is why they look alike.

Don't despair. It is a long hard road. I am often like this....

Hi guys!
He's from my Bill roo and one of his daughters who looks just like that roo.

She was from Bill and my foundation girl, Honey.

They are where I got the breast flowers from - both have great breasts!
No idea where the darker coloring came from! haha

Mr. Red and Blanca give me either the start of MF or else random solid colors, mostly buff, but some buff columbian, white columbian, black with red leakage. The MF have white tips on their breasts, but only MF on their backs and wings.
It's always exciting to hatch from their eggs!

Mr. Red, Blanca, Honey, and Buffy, along with some of the young girls, have my best type.

I figure I can send the Mr. Red offspring to Bill for breast flowers!

This is my "Renoir"...he looks similar to yours. I had high hopes for him, a few years ago, with his coloring (type was awful) but he didn't give me the chicks I was looking for......However, now it is a "moot" point as a Bobcat killed him last fall.
