Mille Cochin Info

I am working on LF calico. I am getting a new mottled LF roo and pullet from bo Garrett to bring into my program come November. There is also one other that is working on it and has been for 2yrs now. I am just beginning my program.
I always wondered about that, if someone took a LF mottled and bred her to a nice MF rooster, and bred up for size..

Another photo of one of the young ladies. She is 10 wks old now. I just happened to snap her in another photo of other birds so cropped her out and thought I would share. She is one of many I have growing up. Not as great as some but better than others. I am watching her to see if she is a keeper.

If I ever get the gorgeous lady out of my A frame and into breeding I will take some shots of a really nice older pullet. That is one dynamite girl! Not as much color (you all know I am not as thrilled about that stage yet) but her type is fantastic! I will get to that one of these days.

I have really enjoyed the photos you all have posted lately. Beautiful birds! Has me drooling!

What do you think of a photo saturday? or friday? or any certain day of the week? I think it would be cool to see how the current birds we have growing out change over a period of time. You could just pick one certain bird or multiple and you post a pic of them on that photo day.

I would love to be able to do that but I am usually so busy I seldom know what day of the week it is! LOL
Most of my photo shoots come from people wanting current photos of something I have for sale and I happen to snap other birds at the same time or in the same photos.
And I have about 30 that are growing up that I am watching closely. By closely, I mean I see them when I feed and water and stand and look for a few minutes each day. At least, I think I see them every day!
I have about 10 that I am sure right now I do not want to keep for breeding but they are mostly roos.

Mike I was going to suggest that very thing!! On one of my Silkie lists on Facebook Wednesday is picture day, it's always fun to "tune in" on Wednesdays & know you're going to see pictures of several peoples birds that day. That might be a great idea for this thread

Thank you, Nancy!

And I always love to tune in here and see everyone's photos! I just don't have a brain in my head to know what day it is and that I should take photos. And it will be a surprise when I see it come through my email that you all are posting photos! LOL I will make sure to jump over and looky at all the pretty babies!

Well, we can still do it. I usually have the time. We just need to pic a day. If your busy it's no problem. I just think it will be fun. I can usually do it any day of the week except weekends as it is deer season. I can't miss a dayas the season is short enough between butchering cows, pigs, and meat birds. But just pick a day!

It's your idea Mike, you choose

Amy, it's gotten to where I'll actually plan on having a picture ready for Wednesday

I might snap a shot on Friday and save it all week just for the list! Also it doesn't even have to be a recent picture, it just has to be a pciture of your birds.

I hope everyone will participate, even if not every week.

Wow! Mike! You do a lot of meat cleaning!
I still have some venison in the freezer. Need to cook it up and make room for the new season, though we no longer hunt. Fortunately, we have friends that do!
We did put 4 drakes in the fridge today and 5 roosters last week. Only a few more to go before we can rest for the others to grow up.

I am headed off to bed. I had two new pens delivered a few minutes ago and need to get up early to work on them. They were cheap enough that I can add what I want to them for grow out pens. And I am still trying to get those peafowl pens built. Never ending....
