Mille Cochin Info

I thought today might be a day of rest and relaxation but I went off down to the barn to take photos. I can only stay in the house a very short time. I went over and fed and watered my peafowl at the other place, too. Can't stay inside much.

Xavier and his ladies were not left out of the treats. These girls are all MF/Mottled crosses. It is slow going to hatch and raise out the best from this breeding pen but it sure adds back type, as seen on some of my birds. I keep doing it because I like the results several generations out.

Yes, that is an Olive Egger pullet. My bantam Cochin hens raise up many breeds very well and I can tell the eggs apart well enough to know when the young ladies start laying and later are ready to be moved to a breeding pen. As big as my pens are I have room for plenty of birds. This pen is 30x60 and the fence is low enough that the Olive Eggers can fly right out but they don't.

This is 3rd generation from MF/Mottled birds. She isn't easy to get a shot of. Busy, busy all the time!

The MF girls are pretty but I sure like the few Calicos I have, too.

Nice Cochins!

Beautiful birds, all, Amy! Those frizzles... something about them. One of my oldest chicks is a little frizzle pullet out of Porky & Special. We came home form Christmas with the family and the first thing I did was run to the brooder and bring her out for a quick snuggle! Brian remarked that I need to get a picture of her before she gets any bigger - you're right, they change SO much when they're young!
