Are they Peppermint's babies?

Yup. Mint is 2 weeks older. I can't wait for them to start laying.

Whatever, she is lovely. What a great color~!

Yah, you wouldn't know it but she was a blue with brown on her up until about a month and a half ago. Now, should I put these girls in with Nigus or Harry when the time comes? They were late July hatches so they still have a while before they can be put into a breeding pen.

Mike, post pics of both boys. I really can't remember their color :(

Nigus- hatched from your eggs.

And Harry- from Nancy out of Prince. He has Peppermint in with him-

Sorry...as I get older my mind isn't as sharp~! Nigus is from one of AnnaMay's Red Cochins. I bred "Rusty" with a Buff Columbian (Tom Roebuck) x MFC hen. So he has a great background. I would use him first & see what they produce. Harry is gorgeous, too, & I'd use him after you see what Nigus produces. If I'm lucky enough to get one of your frizzle pullets, I've already named her "Mint Julep". Nice Southern name :)

Yah, the very next hatch of frizzles you have first choice on pullets. I have already said that so just as soon as I start getting eggs from them I'll let you know. Nigus is one of my favorite boys. Now that explains his red-orange coloring. The other foot has some whiter feathers on it but that's it. I also have hi in with Tuba right now.

Thanks Mike~! :)

It's amazing the mess these birds made in a WEEK! They ate most of the hay out of the tote/nest box and I had to refill it.
These were my Junior and Mario pens in the Cochin Condo. I combined them and got rid of Junior. I added the smaller/younger boy from Erin.

Next...
The only girls I kept out of the eggs I hatched this year (Junior x Katelyn girls) and my older boy from Erin. I named him Bear because he's fluffy and because of Erin's BYC name. I know. I am soooo original.

Next the cockerels. I actually forgot I had these 2 guys left. These are the last of the boys from my hatched eggs. Neither are thrilling me, but I am waiting for those tails to come in before I make a decision on their fates.

And the little Choc Orp X MFC pullet!

Of course, I still have the Choc x Mille trio and the BC looking MFCs yet. I think I am going to cull again really hard after this year. I am not happy with any of my hens/pullets for one reason or another. I have one or 2 with okay cushion and about 6 with breast flowers, but I can't seem to breed both into one bird. Honestly, I am toying with the idea of axing the MFC project again... this is the 3rd time this year. If I don't I believe I am going to cull down to just the best birds - that isn't many. I am incubating every egg I get at the moment, so I hope doing so gives me an idea of what I can expect with the new boys. I issue is still space and time. I also like turkeys more than chickens...

Reyvaughn, I love all the pics if your birds lately and your new pens. That first guy is beautiful.

So does anybody have big plans for this coming spring hatching season or birds you can't wait to hatch from. I'm just waiting for the girls to start laying. I can't wait to start hatching!
