rare feathers farms was working on LF earlier. Not sure if she still is or not. "working on it" is a relative term during the winter months anyhow... not much to work on if they won't LAY!!!!

Thanks, I'll check back in the spring when the egg laying starts again.

All my hens have shut down for the winter as well. I'm hoping to find the time to rebuild the coop with insulation and lights on timers so I can get eggs all year long. It's going to be a big project, the chicken coop is an old hog shed that measures 20'x32'.

Thanks again,
Jon

Speaking of EGGS...

This is what I collected from my little flock of MFCs today. (here in the FRIDGID Minnesotan Midwest!)

Rose went broody 3 days ago and I know the light brown egg is Dorothy's (she's been laying for about a month) but I'm thrilled to see the white egg because it's Gem's (a stunning pullet that I got from AmazonDoc this fall. And that adorable little, darker brown egg in the middle???

Well, that belongs to SOPHIA. Sophia is only the cutest, most adorable, SWEETEST little Mille Fleur Bantam Cochin you could ever hope to meet ~ that's who Sophia is! (thank you Lynne!) Yup, my little Sophia laid her first egg today. I can't believe it. And it's so tiny! My other girls have laid some miss-shaped or rough textured first eggs but this is just too cute!

I'm very sad and up set,

the door blow open in the heated chick shed and all my miille chicks died and one had very good pattern, I think the door blow open last night and we had below 0 temps, my DH sent my 10 year old son to turn out the light and he didn't close the door tight, my son is very upset too. The worst part is my DH knew the the door was hard to shut and you had to make sure it closed. those chicks where just start to color out

Oh, Paula, I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Such a tragic accident. I'm sure your DH and son are equally devasted. Secure the coop door, and then I hope you can try to look forward and find comfort in the promises of Spring.

I am so sorry to hear about you losing your babies! That is horrible! My son would be devastated, so if yours is anything like mine, he will need some extra hugs, I'm sure. I am so sorry...
