I hatched a new baby this weekend from my Birchen Roo and B/W Mottled Hen....baby is black and yellow.
Anyhow, I wanted to share that my big MF rooster, Burke, met baby yesterday when I had it in the yard. He did not know what to think at first, but then decided he would talk with it and show it food on the ground! It was too stinking cute!! Even when the baby jumped up at his beak to check him out, he didn't run off or peck it! Just stood still and patient!

The chick is cute and Burke looks so handsome!!!

Awww that is so cute the size difference! I love little chicks mine are all having a moult so I cant hatch as theyve stopped laying. My 6 week olds r looking nice though. Ooh I know ill take some pics!

Mine are all going into molt. I think the only one who isn't is Rugar but everyone else is dropping feathers like you wouldn't believe plus a friend is coming to hopefully get some eggs in 2 weeks.

IMO you need to keep them all for a couple more months as they will change so dramatically. You don't want to throw out the baby with the bath water.

your right I have seen such a huge change in my current cockerals that it makes sense to wait and see how they change. Just dont want them to start fighting they already have little arguements!

Yeah I agree. They all look like keepers to me!
I do like the first cockerel a smidgeon better then the second; he's got such a lovely cushion, but that's just from one snapshot in one moment in time.. they both look really nice.

He does have a nicer cushion and a better comb and colouring but that's now at 6 weeks! Think I had better wait til at least 12 to be sure. And am going to keep the girls definately. Got 3 quads of mf and blue mf now!

I like number one a lot as well but I think cockerel 2 is one of those boys that is going to really surprise you with his mature looks. I really like how dark you pullet is. I bet she will go good with Dante. Any frizzles yet?
