Mille Cochin Info

Gosh, this thread got away from me! I have been doing a lot of winterizing and selling so I haven't had time to do much checking on here.
You all got it going on! How wonderful! I love seeing birds and pens and birds and babies and curly cuties and everything!

Okay, I read that Mike wanted to see more photos of Shazam. Here ya go. I was outside earlier taking photos for someone else and I snapped these.

Shazam and one of his lovely hens. He has 6 in his pen.

And a new Frizzle breeding boy named "Golly!"

Her are some girls in Schmoozle's pen, though they need to be moved in with Quincy as soon as I have more room.

Quincy and his ladies.

And one of Quincy's offspring.

I had a trio of MF Frizzles up for sale but they sold already. Anytime I put a Frizzle up for sale it goes quick and have a tendency now when folks come to the farm to look at what I have for sale that I hide back some of my cuties I want to keep. MOF, at the last few swaps I went to and our local Chickenstock, my MF roos sold and the people left the MF/Mottled girls with me. I have a growing number of these and have now decided to not cross that up for a while.

Wow ... see why you call him Shazam and Golly is gorgeous too. All of them are.

Amy, I "love" Shazam and Golly. They are both beautiful. And Quincy looks really nice as well. Are the majority of his chicks that light or are there some darker ones? Thanks for posting the pics. I know how busy you are.;)

Here are two of my girls that I think type is coming along, and pattern is not too bad….now I gotta work that Vermillion into my group, getting too many girls with more of a buff color.

Every single cochin egg I set was infertile this last go around, and now, nobody's laying…arrrrgh! Although I think this tells me that the girls with the better cushions are not getting bred.

So far out of Quincy, his kids are light like the pictured, not dark like him. Quincy lost a lot of his white in his last molt, making me so frustrated. But his type is awesome so I stick with him.

I am busy but I try to get over here to see what you all are up to and read as much as I can.

Really nice type! That is wonderful. On the girls all we can expect is a gold, darker than buff color. The vermillion is on the roosters.

So I've noticed not many of the MF's are coming out like the MF duccles. Are we shooting for the duccle coloring? I'm having a hard time getting clean coloring on my birds. I've been focusing on type and now that I'm focusing on color I'm finding it is not coming in so easily.
