if both parents are mottled, the chicks will be.

My rooster Nigus is solid orange and the mother, Tuba, is F3 Mf/ Mottled but has no red leakage. Here are the parents. I'll get pics tomoorow of the 2 chicks.
Nigus is from Lynne and is from the Mille Fleur project if I recall correctly. I know a lot of his chicks are coloring up well but those 2 black ones have me dumb founded,

i think i see dark red coming into the wing, at least something there thats not black

Well after you guys posted about the red on the wings I had to go check out the little guy to see if it really was there. Sure enough it is but I had to take him out from under the brooder light to sunlight to see it. I guess it showed in the pics because of the flash or something because under the brooder he looks solid black.

And I went to snap pics of the other little black. I already call this chick Feisty because it is extremely fast and never stops moving. Then if you catch it is the loudest chick in the brooder.

Everyone has such Beautiful Babies I currently have 3 Milles and have just set some eggs (19 Milles ans 6 Blue/Black Mottled) I can't wait to see what hatches in 19 days
