I have some huge buff columbians I've been working on. I ended up with a decent looking pair that I was going to sell--but the person flaked out so I have decided I was meant to keep them...at least for now.

I crossed my golden laceds with my lemon blues. I ended up with buff colored birds with semi-columbian patterning. The cockerel is buff with black marks and the hen is nearly all buff colored with some spots around her neck and her tail coloring is coming in BLUE. Weirdness...

That's a good start!! Now you just need some mottled birds to cross in there.

Let me know if you're selling any eggs.

It's definitely possible, but it would probably take quite a while to get back to the LF size.

even if the mom is LF?? and the roo is the banty?? i thought i'd seen if it's done this way the babies are usually LF??

blah.. i don't know.. but i joined the yahoo group today so i'll check in over there and see where i can step in to help out...

The babies won't be banties, but they won't be as large as the LF either. It's definitely a start though. What color LF are you going to breed the mille to?

Here's an example of size. These 2 girls are the offspring of the LF roo in the picture and a Silkie hen...they're quite a bit bigger than a Silkie, but not as big as my regular EE hens.

So KellyHM, is that roo an EE? I am planning on crossing my EEs with my Silkies to get a bird that sets well like the silkies, but is a larger size so she can set more eggs. Do you have any pics of a vise versa cross?

BTW, I had a LF roo breed a silkieXcochin bantam hen and the hen that hatched from them (now owned by my aunt) is just a little smaller than the LF RIR and Dominique hens my aunt has with her.

Yes, that is my EE roo. Neither of those girls have ever sat, so the broodiness must not have carried over well. They're mother sat constantly!

Yeah....I think I may be able to get away with some larger mottled banties bred to these guys...they are too young yet to lay eggs--but probably getting close.
