Pretty coloured bird.

A fair few genes affect leg colour. If you post pics I may be able to suggest something to make the leg colour predicable.

I’m sure that there have been many different colors that have been bred into these birds. The first generation of chicks I hatched colored out in Brown Red, Wheaton, Solid Buff, Buff Columbian, Mottled, mostly White, mostly Black, Mille and mixtures of them all. It’s gotten better with every generation. This last generation I’ve been getting around 85% coloring out with decent Mille patterns. Normally I cull out any with the darker feet at a very young age but I wanted to see what these last group would color out like. I’ll be sure to get a few pictures loaded this weekend to show you.

Josh,

What a beautiful boy you have!!! I'd keep him just to see how he matures.....

As for feet color. I can't even tell you if I have looked. These guys have such heavy foot feathering, you can hardly find the feet. However, I will check that out ASAP this morning.

On another note, here are some pics of my Breeder Pullets for Spring 2010

I have been staying away from black but after talking with Krys here on BYC, I need to be more concerned with the breast mottling. So I'll get these guys in the breeding pens & see what happens

Oh, Lynne! Pleae post some of those photos of your girls on the Yahoo group! Your girls for 2010 are exquisite! Some of our members have never seen such beautifuly marked MFC project birds and yours would be an excellent example of what we're breeding for!

Lynne, what a nice group of ladies. Those cushions look like woods mushrooms!
I really love your Santiago...he is more what we are used to seeing. The black hackles on the others is kind of startling. You are brave!

Wow. Lynne. In breeding for the correct pattern you are not losing the conformation. They are wonderful! Such excellent birds to have in the MFC project. Kudos!
