Mille Cochin Info

Mine are Cochins. No beards or Muffs

Regrettfully, I have to agree with everyone else - I'm just not seeing the Cochin. I haven't heard of too many Mille Fleur Cochin breeders up in Canada, but that's not to say that some aren't working on them. If they are, it's pretty obvious that they started by crossing D'uccles (or Booteds) with Cochins, rather than Cochin x Cochin.
For now, I would just enjoy them for what they are - pretty Mille Fleur chickens.

OK so i spent a lot of time online looking into the wether they are Cochin or D'uccle. I have come to the conclusion they are neither. They are in the Booted Bantam class in the Standard and are in fact quite rare. Most people raise the Breaded/Muffed version which are called the D'uccle these are not them they are (from what i've read) the bird they used to make the D'uccle.

So there you have it, I learned something new today. I am fairly new to this so any other input would be appreciated.

I can see some black coming in the hackles and white tips on his breast.. and lots of variation. He's going to be quite striking. I can't wait to see him when he's mature. I didn't get 1 buff based bird from that mating (the mottled/mille cross to my mille) I guess I should've hatched more. I can see black speckling coming in on her head and it looks like she has some on her wings and rump.. Im sure she'll have some on her back as well. Lookin good

Just wondering how old is your MFC? I have 13 two week olds and would love to be able to tell the sex!
