Mille Cochin Info

I am new to the forum but not to poultry, I LOVE Cochin bantams and just feel in love with the Millie Fleur coloring and would love to get started breeding them in the cochins. Does anyone have any eggs for sale? I was just getting ready to start breeding my MF d'Uccle roo to a few mottled cochin bantam hens, but after seeing the pictures on here though if I can get some eggs from someone who is already got a jump start on them then I would LOVE to help out breeding these beautiful birds.

I don't breed MF cochins, but I know you really shouldn't breed D'uccle to Cochins because you'll spend years trying to get the typing of a cochin back from that cross.

Check out the buy sell trade area at the bottom of the main index and see if anyone has any eggs on there for sale.

I don't have any Mille's but looking through this thread- wow! So what is the 'perfect' Mille look like, i am still going through the pages, and wondered- more gold or red? i am an artist and am working on one, but am finding alot of variety, and want to be as accurate as possible. I would love to have a few banties to add, but don't have the room yet...

The Mille Fleur color is a standardized color variety, and has been adopted by several breeds. For the present, we are breeding and working towards this standard. Color terms used in the SOP are "Vermillion Orange" and "Bay".
This link has pics of near-perfect Mille Fleur coloring (on D'uccles) - so imagine this color and pattern on Cochins rather than on D'uccles as pictured.
