Mille Cochin Info

Thanks Nancy ! It's so wierd these are not out of my blue mille project but out of something else. My blue mille project birds seem to have way too much white on them as youngsters but I guess we will see. The blue in these birds seems almost lavender.

I would definitely give them more time, Gail. They look quite young and I've had a LOT of chicks change colors dramatically between 3 and 6 months old. On some (not all) the colors almost seem to come in stages. They'll start out almost all white ~ then turn partridgey looking ~ and then the black chevrons with white tips develop. Not necessarily in that order and it can be different from one line to another. I've got pictures of my young, Calico Cochin rooster on my blog today. He started out almost all white ~ hence the name, "Ice", but has developed a lot of red/gold as he's maturing.

You've really got some beautiful birds coming along!

I just wanted to share some pictures I took recently of some of my young Mille Fleur Hens. I would really love some opinions on their color/pattern.

I just checked out your website's newest pictures. I love to see all your birds and sheep. When my pullet grows a little more, I'll post a pic to see if you breeders with more experience can say if she is a mille or calico. She is 10 weeks now and hasn't changed alot in color just growing fast.
