Good for you Tallyho on shipped eggs!! They are pretty tricky...it helps your in OR and eggs came from CA, the closer the better.
These couple chicks hatched lately

and they exhibit the slight difference in down color I am finding comparing strongly striped chicks vs smudged back color. The left chick had vividly colored chipmunk stripes at her hatch shown here (sorry pic focus is not very good)

Now back above looking at her growing her feathers, they're coming in dark gray with faint buff tips. Compare her to the younger chick on the right who hatched same head color but had a smudgy stripe. Her feathers now come in with more buff. This is the chick color I've seen that grows to the mille fleur color with red hackle but I've only managed to have hens in this. Hmmmm, sex linked?!?!?! Well they are fun!!

Hello everyone! Long time no talk!

I wanted to see what you all thought of my MFCs.... I only have two. Both are from Enjaytoo's flock.

Your girl sure has nice color. Your boy has nice breast pattern too. Hope his chevrons get some black too. In my novice experience they change so much. My roo is 8 mo. old, had mostly white but is still adding black.
- No such thing as too many pics of Milles!

I am glad my DH is so tolerant. I got a batch of eggs and 6 new chickens in one week. Now I am impatiently awaiting the arrival of both.

Not a great shot, but you get the general idea.

I kept him because he had the least black of all the roos. Some were just covered in black.

Sackman, I had a couple of those... grayish blonde chicks with a bit of striping too... and, they also feathered out super dark with lots of black. I was so dissapointed. I believe those were from my mottled x mille roo crossed back to mille looking hens. I was shocked at how dark they turned out...
