Mille Cochin Info

Hi all!

Time to thin out my spring hatches!

Other than the obvious faults, I have a variety of colors in my hatches.

I know we're aiming for type, then color, however, are there any colors that are incompatible to success with the MF pattern?

Lots of the youngsters are coming in with a lot of white and mille patterns, but I also have several pure buff, a couple black with either red or white throats, a black mottled, and a variety in between!

I'm off to get some pics - hoping you guys can help me thin down!!

Ok - I have front pics of most of these guys, if anyone wants to see them!

Who is worth keeping toward breeding and who is to sell?

These guys are all between 2.5 and 4.5mths

#13 This guy has a bum wheel. Not sure what to do for him or if it is congenital and started to be a problem when he got bigger/heavier?

I'm in northeastern, PA!

Lots (and lots) of pics above!!
Have more birds, but wanted to do them by coop!

They are pretty and funny, sweet and very laid back - real people birds

I'm in NE PA - by Bloomsburg. When you start selling, let me know! Is 8 black? And is 11 a pullet? If so, 1, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11 and 15 would be my picks as far as color (I need blacks, so that's why #8).

Oh my Goodness! I can't believe there are more... They are so pretty!! I wish I could help you, but am a newbie to the breed so I just want to comment on your pictures and not steer you. #4's got the prettiest little face ever, if I could stand another Roo here, I would love #12 to cover my girls (we could stand some more white) and #10 is just darling!

I am curious as to what the experts will have to say, like what you could breed #10 to. I kept hearing that you should wait out the first year to cull as they will change so very much. Although that takes a lot of dedication, and coops!

My son and I played with one of our pullets tonight for a while, she was shy at first, but then wouldn't leave... then was charging the Yorkie. It was soooo funny. They are about the same height.

Reyvaughn - you're @2hrs away!

The #8 is a black pullet, #11 is a mottled pullet
both are out of the super pullet I got from Amy!

Martha - Thanks for the great comments!
yes, I'm feeling crunched for space!!

I have two really nice roos, so would like to keep my two breeding pens....but maybe I should work on culling my older group group first - ?? -
They're all laying - I think 11 girls in total...
