Is this one a cross or a pure? It came from a reverse group of 5 (3roos 2females) Mille Fleur Belgian Booted Bantams and is about a month and a half old (one of the roos tried crowing today...hilarious attempt!!!

Any thoughts?

The feather color pattern is off. Milles are more spotted and don't have barring on their wings like that. It looks like a cross, especially with the sparse leg feathering. I'm also pretty sure that the leg color is not right either. They should have light colored legs.

I sorry.

What's strange is that the guy had no other roosters, except maybe for his Pheasants.

Could that just be a bad strain then and she's the example of it?

Anyone? I kind of doubt it's a cross based on that the guy had no other roosters so could it just be a really bad strain? The other female and males look perfectly normal though.

I'm agreeing now that it's a cross, but my question is: is it possible that the cross happened a 1 or more generations ago since the guy only has one roo? He has a trio that look normal and then a few pullets that aren't mature yet.

I do NOT think its a cross. I have just begun breeding these. Some take a longer time to get their spots. To me yours just looks like a very young female who is going to grow to have a TON of spots. The feet feathering is the only thing that i question. Did the guy have any other types of hens? It could be a bad strain.

This is my second generation. I only have Mille Banty's and no other roosters so they are 100% pure:
This is one at 3 weeks:

and this is a hen at 5 weeks (I just disturbed them tonight so I'm sorry if the lighting isn't the greatest):

Also i believe Pidgey's are crosses (possibly some Jap in there?) because the female should have a beard.
