millet - cooked? Raw?

Hi,
Someone from my co-op gave me a five gallon bucket nearly full of millet (in which some grain moths had taken up residence). Will be girls be able to digest this raw? Is cooked okay? In the wintertime I sometimes spoil them by making them warm "oatmeal" (pouring boiling water over some organic mash and letting it sit 10 minutes) as a treat, but they still have access to layer pellets in their feeder. Can I just add the millet along with that? Thanks,

Cooked or raw, either way is OK. Millet is a very common bird seed ingredient.
