I think I posted this in the wrong section last night. One person helped us, but we would like to get a few more opinions if possible. My daughter has 6 Millie fleur d'uccle chicks that are between 3 and 4 weeks old. We have never raised these chickens before, we're hoping some experts can tell which are males and which are females? Thanks SO much!!

Also, what are their color variations going to look like as adults? When she first wanted them I thought they would all look the same, but they don't some are redder, some are more black and one even looks blonde.

i agree that chick 5 is the only cockerel right now, though it’s still fairly early to tell.

color variations would be a little easier to guess with full body pics, but i’d like to point out that a good portion of the chicks you posted aren’t true mille fleurs. they appear to be mostly orange and black and some have white coming in from what i can tell. mille fleur is defined as having orange feathers, a black v shaped band, and a white spangle at the end. the orange can range from a lighter color to a rusty red or mahogany.

That's interesting! I have some more pictures. Please let me know which are true mille fleurs and which are other colors? AS I said earlier, these are our first of this breed, we purchased them from a breeder, but we know nothing about them ourselves. Thanks!

Can you show me some pictures of what they should look like?

ooh these are much easier to tell thank you! i’d actually say that all except the 2nd and 5th chick down (not counting the group photo) look like proper millies to me! those two are just a smidge too dark, but it’s possible that’s just their chick down color and they could lighten up after molting.

as for what the pattern looks like, images 1 and 2 are from the breeder i get mine from, image 3 is from a well-know breeder in my area, and image 4 is my hen.

the pattern can change and develop a lot as the bird grows so i wouldn’t worry abt it too much right now! and it’s really not a big deal unless you’re interested in breeding or showing. i’m just very interested in these guys so i wanted to share :D

Thank you!!! Any and all information is appreciated. She does want to breed them because we are members of the Livestock Conservancy.

What about the blonde baby? She is way lighter than everyone else and very little compared to the others. Can you tell me what to look for when I am looking at them?
