I am looking into getting a hand feed mill that could be later hooked to a small moter. I am looking at cutting the price down on feeding the meat birds with out sacraficing quilty of feeds.

Does any one else do this?

I've been thinkin the same thing Shelly but so far havn't found the device. In doing research i have found that what is needed is called a root cutter.(If that's what yer wantin to do). it is a device that grinds an entire stalk of corn, ears and all into edible food.

The person I knew of doing the hand milling for her hens complained a lot about her arm getting as big a baseball pitcher's. She was thinkin' about turning out for the local farm team

.

When I worked on a grain and livestock farm, we had a hammer mill for milling barley & oats for the cattle.

McMurray's has a hand grist mill. "Capacity of about 10 lb. per hour."
