When it's time, I am going to build a ramp that goes up to the ledges. Since they shouldn't be laying until August or so, I just haven't bothered to make that yet.

I'll either build it really long so they walk to the back to get up in it or I'll start it on one of the roosting bars and go up from there.....I haven't really thought about that part in full just yet.... :)

Maybe I'll figure out some way to build a chicken elevator - do you think they could push the button with their beaks? LOL

Haha! I don't know how deep your nesting boxes are, but the design we are planning on using has the openings facing the wall. The chickens have to go to the edge and walk along the shelf to get in them.

There is a hinged back so you can get the eggs out, and the whole thing will slide off the shelf so you can easily clean it out.

They are about 15" deep and will be about 14" wide each. I may make one bigger than the rest and make the other three 12" wide.....I don't know - still contemplating what to do. The plywood bottom has been sealed (I found it on the side of the road like that) but I still want to put some sort of vinyl tile or something in there that can be removed and cleaned. The cabinet doors open up to the back of the boxes so we can get the eggs out easily. I figured if I had to go in and get the food for them every day, I might as well have to get the eggs from inside too - and that way, if we're gone for a day or two, we don't have to worry about someone stealing the eggs or anything.....

Very nice and it looks like you put alot of effort into your set-up! Cleaning below your ladder roosting bars area may be a chore. A few bars at the same height with poop boards below will go a long way with the clean-up efforts.
