Does mineral oil help keep the eggs when waiting for enough to incubate? is this a bad idea? just read about preserving eggs for 9 months w/mineral oil. Wondered if anyone has knowledge on this? Thanks, Carrie

IMO.... Bad idea.
Someone was telling me about the mineral oil trick just the other day. Eggs "breath" through their shell and the mineral oil seals the pours which is what makes them stay fresh that long. If you seal the pours your chicks will have no chance at life. Most people will never even wash hatching eggs or set dirty eggs. Mineral oil would be way worse then either of those so I wouldnt try it.
