I've free ranged mine, & none ever got gotten by a predator. They'll be free ranged again once we move to our new home.I read through the bulk of this - following along because I'm planning on a flock of survival chickens starting next spring. I let my coop chickens free range during the day and have lost one. Not sure to what but there is no shortage of predators here. I'm really interested to see how yours do.

I don’t know for sure if that’s what happened, but it’s my best guess. She just didn’t come back one day. When they free range, they really range - sometimes they go way up on the ridge and I have no idea where they are for a couple of hours.
